Bugit ja Häiriöt[]
Ennen aloittamista muista aina odottaa pari päivää ennen korjaustiedoston lataamista. Esim. Korjaustiedosto 1.2 teki peliin paljon häiriöitä ja lohikäärmeet lensivät joskus takaperin. Tutki ennen kuin lataat.
Kaikki on järjestetty vakavuusjärjestykseen.
Kriittistä[]
Tämä osio on bugeista, jotka aiheuttavat isompia ongelmia peliin ja aiheuttavat toimintahäiriöitä.
- When selection 'New game' it stays on a screen with a dragon symbol. Does not load the game even after waiting. Speculation on cause and a fix that worked for me: Downloading and installing the patch content prevents the game content from installing from the disc. To fix the issue erase the patch and the game file. Start the game again, don't patch the game. After the game has installed (should take a few minutes) this glitch should be a distant memory, patch the game if/when you feel like it.
- PS3 Crash(Patch 1.02): Crash nearly every time; on, during and or shortly after waiting: (after patch 1.2) Crash while trying to use the wait command and when using it. Waiting and zoning are most prone to freeze or crash the game, however accessing the playstation console menu will sometimes cause the game to crash as well. The game also crashes repetitively throughout, with no specific actions as a cause (after patch 1.2). The game will crash more and more frequently, and eventually get the point of crashing within seconds of loading a game. After restarting, a message will be displayed stating the hard disc is corrupted, which says it will take 2 or 3 hours for the PS3 to attempt to restore. In most cases it only takes one or a few minutes though.
- WARNING! REPEATEDLY GETTING THIS ERROR WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN THE CORRUPTION OF PS3 STARTUP FILES OR OTHER IMPORTANT SOFTWARE, KILLING YOUR SYSTEM! (PROOF? This is related to memory handling in conjunction with increasing size of the SAVE file so this seems unlikely.) ONCE THESE CRASHES START HAPPENING AND YOU GET A MESSAGE ABOUT RESTORING THE HARD DISC, UNINSTALL THE PATCH AND PLAY A NEW/PRE-PATCH GAME! This may also cause your system to start freezing randomly, even while not playing Skyrim.
- NOTE: This bug is VERY rare. If you have this bug, it's more likely that you're very unlucky and have a corrupted download of the update.
- NOTE: The above statement about PS3 startup files becoming corrupted due to the stated error actually does hold some validity it seems. I actually just experienced something similar to this(12/26/11 8:00PM EST). I was able to save my PS3 from total failure by performing a quick format of the HDD. Unfortunantly, I lost all data that I wasn't able to back up on an external HDD. After the format I reinstalled Skyrim game data and updates without any further errors. By the way, this occured at the same time I noticed I had the Skyrim bug where no NPC will allow you to further explore speech option, complete a quest or trade with them. COLLABORATION: (12/20/2011) I replaced my hard drive to fix this same issue when the system refused to start up without first doing a memory restore. I have since reinstalled the 1.3 patch and turned off autosave. I no longer freeze but I lag up alot during the daytime in cities. My save is over 10MB,
- NOTE: Do be careful with this bug, I have gotten up to the point where my game crashes A LOT. My save file is around 7mb at the moment, which is not that much but is enough to cause huge lag sometimes and the typical crash, where you system completely freezes, but you can still hear the soundtrack in the background. The only way to restart the system is to hold the power button for a few seconds, but this CAN be dangerous to the system. I am going to try and refrain from playing until the next patch comes out, and I advise you all with this bug to do the same.
- PC Unable to Start: After getting to the menu with the dragon symbol on the left, with the options of Continue/Load/New/Quit, the menu will not show the options, no matter how long you wait. This makes game unplayable.
- (Xbox 360, last patch): Game and Xbox Freeze: For some weird reason, everytime I try to enter Hag Rock Redoubt, my game freezes during the loading screen while entering it and then my xbox doesn't do anything until I reboot it. I'm trying to get in there for the quest Family Heirloom, and I didn't have any problems with entering Hag Rock Redoubt before accepting that quest. (additional info: I got this quest from Skjor, who should be dead. I completed the companion quest line and he should be dead but isn't. He's alive and well and offering this quest instead of Vilkas. Maybe that has something to do with the above crash)
- the same problem occurred for me when entering Bloodlet Throne when trying to continue the mission from the old Jarl in Falkreath where he sends you to destroy his vampire ancestor.
Major[]
This section is for bugs which can break main quest progression or cause large disruptions to gameplay AND have no known fix.
- Battle For Whiterun - During the Battle For Whiterun, in Dragon's Reach when the first wave of guards (three) attack you, attacking any of them will cause Galmar to become hostile. It is possible to avoid the guards, and let followers dispatch them, however eventually Jarl Balgruuf will run after you, forcing you to fight back. NPCs will not attack him, and as soon as you attack, Galmar becomes hostile. Similarly, Irideth, Balgruuf and Galmar are all invincible, making proper completion impossible. I found a fix whereby you run away from Whiterun on foot, and after a little while the quest completes, HOWEVER:
- Whiterun stays in siege state; the general populace remain indoors, and Stormcloaks run through the streets as if still fighting. Interestingly, Adrianne Avenicci and Ulfberth will now have the same inventory and gold amount, as opposed to separate before the Battle For Whiterun.
- Galmar will stay in Whiterun, in a battle-ready state. He will follow you around Whiterun, but will not leave. This makes completion of the Civil War quest line impossible, as he will not appear at the Stormcloak camp in Falreath to give you orders for the Liberation of Skyrim quest.
- Jarl Balgruuf will follow you and fight with you. However, he will not fast travel; it appears he walks everywhere, thus shows up often after waiting for periods of time. He has no dialogue options, and is said to be 'Busy'. Attacking him will cause him to fight back, but running for a short while dissipates this. As he has not technically left Whiterun as Jarl, Vignar Gray-mane will not take his place, meaning there is no Jarl of Whiterun, making completion of the Alduin quest line impossible.
- Stealth- (PS3) Stealth dosent work after new update my sneak is 100 with all perks and max stealth 5/5 and enemys can detect me all the time now, even from far away before the update I could walk infront of people and not be detected. Now they can detect me when I'm crouching far away from them like I dont have sneak at all.
- Margins- (PS3) When playing Skyrim on a non HDTV, around 2 inches are cut off from all sides of the screen. This cuts off half of each word in the items and magic menu, and it also completely hides the compass at the top of the screen and hides 90% of the the bar at the bottom that tells you how much weight you're carrying and how much gold you have, so you can jus barely see the tops of the numbers and in no way can tell what they are. It also hides half of the stamina, health, and magic bar, so it is difficult to see how full they are unless they are on a dark background. After many hours of gameplay, I have not yet ever found out how much weight I am carrying or am able to carry, or how much magicka/health/stamina I have at the moment or what my maximum is, and the only way to see how much gold I have is to talk to my housecarl and trade with her, or "trade" with the dresser in my house. I only just found out today there is a way to see when you are able to shout again, something I have never known because I cant see the bar.
- Companion's Quest Take Up Arms:After I got Aela's sheild from Eurlond. I go to Aela and as I do a Whiterun guard approches me for stealing iron bars in Riverwood, he then proceeds to start attacking after I try to exit his conversation and then all of the companions join in. After I sheathe my weapons with about 12 companions fighting me they all start to say "I think you've been taking things that don't belong to you. Pay your debts, and we'll forget this happened". No matter how many times I pay and no matter the choice I make they still follow me and tell me that. I managed to get away by sprinting out of Whiterun and fast traveling. I waited 2 (Real life days) and 3-4 weeks (game time) and they still do that when I try to turn in the quest, so I can't proceed the questline or get rid of my 2 steel sheilds (one being Aela's one being my old sheild)
Malborn freezes in Embassy kitchen (PC). I followed him into the storage area and got my stuff. Then he keeps telling me to hurry but won't move from his spot until I open the door to the living area, at which point he says, "You're on your own!" Reloading from differing saves didn't help this. EDIT: THIS DOES NOT AFFECT QUEST PROGGRESION IN ANY WAY , you can continue with the quest as usual, he is not important. He will eventualy leave if you go on. ( although sometimes he won't lock the door behind you as he says)- 'Bleak Falls Barrow' (Xbox 360) When going straight to Bleak Falls Barrow instead of talking to the court wizard right away, the jarl and the wizard will be glitched into standing and looking at each other in the Court Wizard's laboratory. When interacting with the Court Wizard, he would tell the player to "wait for the Jarl to get here" even though he's already in the room. Rebooting the game does not help.
- Alduin's Bane (Xbox 360,PC) After reading the Elder Scroll at the Throat of the World during the quest Alduin's Bane, the game will enter the vision. A dragon and a Nord will fight for a (very) long time, dragon doesn't seem to move very well and it will eventually die. Nord will continue to attack body and the game will not exit the vision.(PC) After aludin is banished the vision will not exit.
- Screen Flash (post-1.3 patch PC) After installing the 1.3 patch on PC the game will graphically glitch during the main menu or loading screen, looping a flashing screen similar to the screen flashing that accompanies a resolution change that prevents playing at all. This occurs at all resolutions, native or otherwise, and in both fullscreen and windowed modes.
Experimenting has shown that the flashing will occur during the loading screen if the graphics options are not changed from the default detected upon launching, but will occur immediately upon launching the game if the options are changed.Alt-Tabbing out of the game is still possible, but overall unhelpful. UPDATE: The issue appears to be related to nvidia's anti-aliasing implementation. After testing, changing options in the Skyrim launcher with AA disabled in the nvidia control panel is entirely normal, however the following settings in NvCP were found*: (1) Setting AA mode to 'Off' or 'Application-controlled' is OK. (2) Setting AA mode to 'Enhance The Application Setting' allows the game to be played at any AA setting other than 8x CSAA and 16x CSAA. Those two settings will cause the game to black/white screen after loading and crash to desktop. 16xQ CSAA is unaffected. (3) Setting AA mode to 'Override Any Application Setting' will allow the game to be played at up to 4x AA. Any higher settings will cause the screen flashing loop to occur. Saved game can be loaded at 16xQ CSAA but there are major graphics glitches, e.g. red box at level progress bar during loading, glitched remaining charges bar, missing compass bar and box, etc. Note: The above settings were found after setting all options in the Skyrim launcher to max. Skyrim 4GB/LAA was not used. Nvidia driver version was 290.36 beta on a GTX 285. - Puzzle Door Glitch (XBOX360, PC) (See Fix Note At Bottom Of Paragraph) After starting a new game with a new character, activating the puzzle door rings to make them rotate on any puzzle door does not work. They highlight and the cursor pops up with "activate [Outer/Middle/Inner] ring", but will not rotate. Activating claw slot will work, but without the rings in proper position, traps go off/door doesn't open, etc. Noticed this only occured after I started a new game with a new character (though it seems to be counting my saves by profile and not character, as my first save for the new character was numbed one higher than my last save for the old, not sure if this part is supposed to happen). This glitch occurs on both game files. Deleting one of the characters completely does not fix it. Can no longer progress through puzzle doors and complete any quests that require this (such as the golden claw power word for the main storyline or getting the jagged crown for the imperial side of the civil war). (This can also occur on PC) (Note: Most times this can be fixed by simply saving your game and reloading the save.)
- EXIT THE AREA AND RE-ENTER WORKED EVERY TIME FOR ME.
- Puzzle Door Glitch Part 2 (Xbox 360) I had the puzzle door Glitch exactly as stated above, I left the area came back and the rings did move but this time when I inputted the correct code the door did not reconize the code and would not open.
- Dark Brotherhood (PS3 & XBOX 360) When you first encounter Cicero near the farm you can chose to get the farmer to help Cicero fix his wagon. But the farmer never will, he will keep wandering around his home saying he is about to get his tools. This means the Dark Brotherhood quests cannot be started.(False, this quest is not required to join the dark brotherhood, all you have to do is talk to Aventus Aretino and accept his contract to kill Grelod). (Cicero will remain there outside the farm until you join the Brotherhood and shows up there with the Nightmother commenting on the fact you helped him. This is not a bug at all and I recommend deletion.)
- (Bug origin unknown) (PS3) speech with NPC's does not continue even if one of the speech options is picked. This has stopped me from making progress or starting any new quests, I can no longer trade with shop owners as when I click "What have you got for sale?" they say "Take a look" (or one of the other phrases) then just idly stand there and no trade window comes up. I cannot trade with or talk to any NPC's in game and so quest progress is impossible, game completion is impossible, the game is now useless. (Video Evidence PS3) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=St-gAjL8uMw I have solved the above bug by uninstalling all the Skyrim updates and reinstalling them again. See if that works for you.
- Farkas (XBOX360)(PS3)(PC) when trying to join The Companions guild, Farkas won't stop approaching me with his sword drawn and when he gets near conversation starts automatically, it's really hard to work around because when he is told to show me my bed all he does is talk with his weapon out. This also occurs elsewhere, such as on the quest to retrieving the fragment from Dustman's Cairn. This is exceedingly frustrating in combat, as he still speaks you you while fighting. He also refuses to fight alongside you, instead just standing there like a moron attempting to spark some conversation in the middle of a battle.[This is usually caused by having a standing bounty with the local Hold. Resolve outstanding bounties, and this glitch will go away. It can also be solved by completing either the Stormcloak or Empire questline]
- PS3 Can't finish any quests The dialogue option doesn't appear at points when you should get the next quest and are left with the original option or you just can't talk tot he person at all. The 3 files it has happened to me on all dropped down 1MB or more before it occured and after it does, reloading a save doesn't seem to fix it.
- Rescue Mission (PS3) Vikas gives the Rescue Mission quest to save a woman from Markarth who has been captured in Morvunskar. The Sanguine quest has already been done and the dungeon was cleared totally (including the NPC in front of the room with the burned bodies). This quest starts in the 'not cleared' column but a few minutes after this quest is assigned it stealthily moves to the 'completed' column but for all other purposes it looks like it hasn't been done (the quest language still looks uncompleted). The companions won't give new quests. When going to Morvunskar, the woman who is supposed to be rescue isn't there. Instead, she's still at the inn in Markarth. This all happens before the purity quests for the companions are done.
- Jarl Igmund Hrolfdir's Shield/ Meridias Beacon (XBOX360) I can't loot Hrolfdir's Shield from the Hargraven chest. I did get the Beacon for Meridias in the same chest. My boyfriend was able to loot the shield, but didn't have the beacon quest. I'm wondering if this is a bug from having two quests/one chest. I want my house! - Meridias Beacon can be found in differant places, I got it from a cave near Ivarstead.
- House of Horrors (XBOX360) After entering the house that is expected to have daedra activity, the house begins to shake and the world becomes discoloured as it should. But, the man you go in with yells that there is no way out even though the door is unlocked. The guide explains that Malag Bal tells you to kill the man but it doesn't happen in the game. The only thing to do is kill him. You aren't supposed to leave as the door should be locked now. If it isn't locked then the world outside also shakes and is dicoloured. After killing him you go and talk to Malag Bal. After talking to Malag Bal you go back up to exit the house but it is now locked, but shouldn't, and can only be opened with a key. There are no other exits which results in you being stuck in that house if you didn't save before starting the quest. So even if you save before the quest and revert to it then you are unable to start and finish the quest. If you didn't save before or your only saves are after you entered the house then you basically have to delete your character because there is no way out. (Walk with the man to the basement of the house and look at the shrine. When you come back up, Malag Bal will tell you to fight)
- Sleeping Giant Inn (PC): The two left rooms and part of the floor and celling don't load properly making "Horn of Jurgen Windcaller" impossible to complete. All the items in the rooms load properly, even the doors. Delphine and other NPC will drop into the bugged area and disappear from the game if they walk over it (they respawn after the area is reloaded) . (VIDEO) Loading previous saved games before getting the quest won't correct the problem , it seems to be a loading related issue.I could not advance the main quest even if using the console. EDIT : I was able to continue the main quest using the next series of console commands : 1. player.additem 0003292F 1 2. setstage MQ105Ustengrav 30 3. setstage MQ106 10 Then go and talk to graybeards 4. setstage MQ106 50 . Then go and slay the dragon and talk with delphine and everething should be normal. However the inn will still NOT load properly.
- Thieves Guild Bug Nigtree (XBOX360)(PC)(PS3): Brynjolf will never leave the market area and go the Ragged Flagon, Thus you may never join the theives guild.----->PC version. type commands prid 00020545
-If you attack anyone in the market area Brynjolf will leave and go back to the Ragged Flagon*
- Attacking anyone in the market will not always work and if it doesn't, you cannot join the guild.
- Thieves Guild Bug (PS3, Xbox 360): After completing the Quest "Loud and Clear," the questline breaks and cannot ever be completed. Upon discussion with other players, it seems the bug occurs if you do not immediately speak to Maven Black-Briar after receiving the new quest "Dampened Spirits" from Brynjolf. If you go on to complete any other past quest before speaking to Maven, the Thieves Guild questline breaks leaving no way for completion.
- Above glitch can also occur if you accept the Quest "Loud and Clear" and complete other quests before completing it.
- Joining Companions guild (Take up arms) for xbox 360: Something similar to the thieves guild problem above, Kodlak says to Vilkas to take the player in the courtyard outside of the guild and practice a bit to see whether the player can join the guild. Instead of Vilkas taking you to the courtyard, he just gets up and as soon as he does he attacks you in a way like a bandit trying to kill you. This didnt happen to me until a few days ago because last week I was taken to the courtyard and we sparred for a few seconds and before I was to be accepted the console froze and I lost two hours of work. Out of frustration, I didnt feel like joining the guild until after I had finished "Dragonslayer". Now he is basically trying to kill me, I also did not use magic at all for both attempts. This is NOT THE 1.2 PATCH, this is patch 1.1. I am "offline" solely for skyrim because of Patch 1.2. Either way, I have no way to join the Companions guild, and I cannot continue any other quests in the thieves guild after "Loud and Clear", besides the side jobs the members give you. My condolences for those effected by any bugs/glitches.
- Thieves Guild Bug (Xbox 360): After travelling to Sentinel Falls, if you talk to Gallus and the doors to the pilgrim path open and you exit the cave and come back later, the doors will not open again.
- Thieves Guild Bug (PS3): Upon starting the quest "Summerset Shadows" given by Delvin Mallory after finishing 4 small jobs in one hold. The player is given direction to speak to Torsten Cruel-Sea. For some reason, Torsten may be completely inaccessible, appearing to be located directly west of Windhelm, yet still inside of Windhelm (according to compass). Clairvoyance indicates that he can be found directly on the gate to Windhelm. When I tried this I had completed all the other major questlines, this may have been a factor. Torsten is impossible to find in his house, farm, or city of Windhelm, rendering it impossible to complete the thieves guild questline and become guildmaster.
- Thieves Guild Bug (Xbox 360)(PS3): After completing the quest "Hard Answers", if you return to the Dwemer museum in Markarth, it will restart the Hard Answers quest. Completing this quest again will reward the player with another Nightingale Blade BUT when you get to the Darkness Returns quest, you must talk to Karliah. Instead of starting conversation with the player, she will just say "Yes, fellow Nightingale?". This makes the quest incompletable and the player is stuck in the Ebonmere room. Loading previous saves does not seem to fix this bug.
- Thieves Guild Bug (PC): After completing the full quest line, and becoming Guild Master of the Thieves Guild, Karliah returns to Snow Veil Sanctum, rather than Nightingale Hall. She greets you as if you are in Nightingale Hall, but with no special dialog for that location. Nightingale hall also remains as it was at the end of 'Trinity Restored' and never becomes an upgradable 'home'. The Thieves Guild seems to operate correctly, however. [12/12/2011]
- I'm not sure this counts as a "major" bug, honestly.
- Thieves Guild Bug (XBOX360): In Darkness Returns, you speak to Nocturnal. Once she is finished she descends into the Ebonmere and Karliah is supposed to speak to you. But Karliah never shows up and the quest marker remains over Nocturnals head (actually inside the Ebonmere). Going back to previous saves, reloading the area, none of these fix the problem. The rest of the Thieves Guild progression is then permanently broken.
- Resistance glitch(Confirmed)(PS3)(XBOX360)(PC): After installing the 1.2 patch, resistances of all kinds (magic, fire, frost, shock) are broken and ineffective. Dated 29 Nov 2011.
- video proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=ES&hl=en&v=kk2SbJnsXFM
- Solution: patch your game to 1.3.
- Quests(Xbox 360): I've actually noticed this for a few quests. If you visit a quest area prior to getting the quest for that area, when you are required to return to that area for the actual quest, you are unable to complete it. Either the required item will not be obtainable or the required enemy will already be dead and will not respawn. (i.e. Forbidden Legend gathering the amulet fragments, Valuable Book Procurment finding a copy of Chimarvamidium, and a number of other quests mentioned elsewhere in this forum.) You end up with an inventory full of items you cannot drop, and a quest log full of quests you cannot complete. Being such a completionist, this drives me nuts! You would think they would account for that type of thing. Otherwise its as if you cannot explore an area unless a quest requires you too.
- - (PS3, PC) Also the quest " Purity of Revenge " for the companions will not start if you have already cleared Driftshade Refuge previously. As Vilkas will not give you the option of starting the quest and the leader is dead.
- - (XBOX360) The "Purity of Revenge" has also the same problem if you already have/have done the "helm of Winterhold" quest. Cannot talk to Vilkas or to anyone, and you cannot move onto any more quests from them.
- Perk (PC): Shield Charge once taken will stop functioning after an undetermined amount of time. This bug seems to be directly related to frames per second. Having high frames per second will stop the perk's function. Capping your frame rate by enabling vertical sync will potentially fix it temporarily. The longer that your character is played the lower the frame rate will need to be in order for the perk to function. Being that this is a 100 skill requisite perk the perk being broken is fairly game breaking.
The current work around is to remove and then add the perk again (thank you xtracker85)
- player.removeperk 58F6A
- player.addperk 58F6A
- (Xbox 360/PC and PS3 unconfirmed) If you have a bounty in Solitude before completing the Stormcloak Rebellion questline About halfway through Ulfric's Speech after you have successfully taken over the city Ownership of the city will be passed from the Solitude Guard faction (unless you mess around a lot in the construction kit, you wont know what that is) to the Stormcloak Faction and everyone including Ulfric will try to kill you. This makes no sense that the bounty is passed over if you have only killed guards and Legionnaires as the Stormcloaks have declared war on the Imperial Legion.
- Glitch (unconfirmed)(PC): When I read a book in inventory I can no longer close the book. I can use "escape" to get the main menu, but then I have to quit the game and restart from last save. And remember not to read a book from inventory. Also if see book and and hit "E" to read it but I no longer have the option to drop the book. I must place it my inventory and then I can drop it (if I do not try to read it).
- (PC) Pressing the TAB button might resolve this problem (Unconfirmed)
- Unlimited Skills, Health, Magica glitch During the quest The Silver Hand you are to participate in the blood ritual and become a werewolf. You will get taken to a loading screen when its finished loading quickly press menu, go into apparel and it alows you to put on any item of clothing, rings, masks, ect.. without removing your current clothing. so say you have 20 magic rings, equiping all of them with 20% Fortify Alchemy your total would be 400%, works with anything health, stamina, armour rating. This can only work once so if you're already a werewolf it cant be done and as soon as your a human again equiping an item will remove all of that type of clothing, thats why i suggest having Fortify Alchemy effects so you can make powerful fortify enchanting potions and then use that to make powerful enchantments of any kind.
- Crash (PC) (unconfirmed): Game will close to desktop without error at random. It is more frequent when running full desktop in infinity mode<?> [presumably "Eyefinity mode" -- AMD's multi-monitor support], less often in 1920x1080. Major pain if you a traveling from point to point, have to restart from the last save point which could be a loss of precious time and gameplay (especially if you slay a dragon in between points) depending on distance traveled. (Happened while performing Sadia's quest. Opened the game again to find all of the auto-saves and the quick save showing static and would crash again when trying to load.)
- I have also experienced this, several times. Only since updating to the 1.2 patch, however. Running dual displays at 1920x1080.
- I've also been experiencing this. It happens completely randomly. And I'm playing at less than 720p. (For some reason 720p extends the game off screen which it shouldn't)
- Happening here. 1680x1050, ultra settings, win7 64bit, HD 5970 (crossfire). Game will crash to desktop randomly, happens frequently. Saves load normally.
- I've run into this problem as well. (1920X1980, HD 6970, everything on ultra.) What solved it for me was installing the new Catalyst drivers and using the Skyrim 4gb mod. I haven't had a crash since then.
- Textures/Crash (PC) Occasionally game won't load textures properly causing missing textures bug. Instead of desired texture game will display a place-holder: pink, white or black plain texture. (Trying to take a screenshot of this with the Steam Client's F12 usually crashes the game.)
- Loop (PS3 and PC) : Using lifts to exit Blackreach to Skyrim will cause the game to enter and infinite loop of reloading the entrance into Skyrim. COC codes will fail as well, as after relocating the loop will continue reloading the point of entrance into Skyrim.
- This bug can occur any time when using a Dwemer lift, no matter where you're going to or from. It is impossible to open the Game Menu or Character Menu, and opening the game console on PC will not pause the game as it normally should. The only menu capable of stopping the reload loop is the favorites menu, you just have to keep pressing the applicable key until it shows up. After one or two more reloads the game should be fine.
- In addition, it seems that disabling auto-save will prevent the loop from occuring at all. Just be sure to re-enable it after you've changed location! (PC)
- (Xbox 360, PC, PS3) Dungeon Hag's End: at the end of the dungeon it's impossible to get the dragon word. The typical sound is played well, but no words shines on the wall. For me it crashes already two quests (the quests you must find the words).
- Mouse (PC) : mouse buttons not responding both for attack function and in the menu's for selecting weapons/spells. same mouse buttons function navigating to the menu but once over inventory items become non functional. (disable the "360 controller" setting in the gameplay menu and they should work?)
- I have this problem as well, though it primarily effects my right hand. I can equip all items and spells into my left hand, but cannot change what I have in my right. (Tip: Try to equip a sword and un-equip it right after, and then equip your spell/weapon. This empties your right hand which then can hold something else. For a quicker method, set hotkeys (1-8), pressing the hotkey once will equip the weapon/spell in your left hand and pressing it twice dual-wields it, thus allowing you to get what you want in your right hand)
- Crash: (Xbox 360, PC) When you test yourself against Vilkas in order to join the companions, he gives you his sword to take to Eorlund. When you take the sword to him he then gives you a shield to take to Aela. When the dialogue between Eorlond and yourself is over the Game crashes every time. (Unconfirmed)
- This is caused by buying Eorlund's Steel Shield, if he doesn't have the shield in his inventory, he can't use it to make the shield for Aela. If you have the shield on your character, he will take it and convert it into the quest item leaving you equiped with the quest item shield which in turn leaves you shield-less after giving it to Aela. If the shield is not in your inventory or Eorlund's the game crashes. Sorry for the format, someone can clean it up. But this is what I learned from messing around with this bug.
- Glitch: (Xbox 360) Confirmed - When starting a new game the cart can flip upside down sometimes when the menu for the Xbox 360 is up during the start of the game. (Being taken to your exicution. This only happens when the menu is up for me. It happened 5 times out of the 10 times i tried it.
- A Cornered Rat Quest: I can not open the door in Ratway Warrens where is Esbern and this is the main quest
- Fix (for PC): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BOWOf1fXqA (easiest way to fix it)
- Fix (for PC): Save and exit the game, delete the 2 .ini files located in "Documents\My Games\Skyrim" (you may want to make a backup first) and start the game. You will be informed that the settings are being generated from scratch. Fixes both the door not opening and the dialogue bug.
- Fix (for PC): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4fZrCx-vLg (YT: Skyrim Esbern Sound & Door Bug FIX) (I was able to do this successfully, as were several friends)
- Another issue is that sometimes the quest will simply not start after speaking with Delphine, making the main quest unable to be completed.
- Skyrim Fix (PC) for Esbern's door remaining closed, and unable to progress story. As shown in the video, "How to fix the, A Cornered Rat, Quest bug in Skyrim ". You are able to open up your console (~) and enter the following command:
- setstage mq202 160
- Workaround (for PC): Confirmed (may not always work) - Esbern's voice files are not essential to complete either the "A Cornered Rat", "Alduin's Wall", or "Season Unending" quests. Opening the console with the ~ button and entering the 'tcl' command to disable clipping allows you to enter into Esbern's door. After passing through the door, enter the 'tcl' command to enable clipping again, keep pressing the talk button to Esbern while waiting for him to unlock the door, and then again while he is changing into his traveling clothes. His dialogue will be missing, and the subtitles will disappear almost instantly, but it will not prevent you from completing the main storyline as he will continue to perform the scripted actions normally so long as you keep prompting him. Sometimes Esbern will stop moving or performing a task. If this occurs, ask him to wait and then ask him to follow you again. If that does not work, hit him with a weak attack (and in some cases he may need to be hit with Unrelenting Force). His attacking and conjuring capabilities are unaffected.
- NOTE: For "Season Unending", the negotiations will always get stuck when Esbern is speaking. Save and reload the game at the points when it becomes stuck. This will bypass Esbern's dialogue trigger and the next person who should speak will do so.
- Workaround (Tested on PC): If Esbern doesn't open the door, just save anywhere near and load the same savefile. Esbern's door will be open. Just do the same everytime he gets "dialogue stuck".
- Joining the Stormcloaks and Season Unending Quests(Fixed for PC): If you have the "Joining the Stormcloaks" quest when you begin the "Season Unending" quest, you WILL NOT be able to complete the main storyline as both of the NPCs, Ulfric Stormcloak and Galmar Stone-Fist will send you back and forth between the two of them, not allowing you to complete either quest. Bug still present in version 1.2 (PS3). This bug can easily trash days of gameplay, since once you have started both quests, the problem is inevitable, but is not apparent to a player who is diverted by sidequests.
- To fix this on PC you can use the setstage command to pass the mission'
- There is a way to fix this bug. When Ulfric Stormcloak and Galmar Stonfe-Fist discuss the jagged crown it is possible to walk up to Ulfric and spam "E" Now you will be able to discuss the Season Unending quest and continue the questline normally (PC)
- (PS3) The spam talk button trick works on ps3 also.
- (PS3) Except that it doesn't for me.
- (Xbox 360) I can confirm this glitch. Haven't been able to fix it at all.
- (Xbox 360) I finished the jagged crown quest and when returning to Ulfric, he could enter into a dialog. (I did not update to patch 1.2)
- (Xbox 360) The trick works for me. (I did update)
- PS3/Xbox 360: Unable to load saved files from the start menu (after patch 1.2): Unable to load ANY saved file from the start up menu. Sits at loading screen indefinitely, no crashing or freezing however stays only at the loading screen. (FIX: Must start a new game [EVERY TIME the system is shut down or when the game is quit] then load any save as you get off the cart in the opening). No other known solution.
- Xbox 360 weight glitch: Wearing apparel increases overall weight by the weight of the object which then is permanently added. This glitch has also corrupted the character completely so all saved games have the same effect.
- Xbox 360 Hired Muscle Quest: When trying to complete this quest to become a werewolf it says I have to intimidate Faendal, but when I find him in Riverwood he's already dead. I've tried talking to everyone in the companions guild to see if I can skip this quest because apparently it's not a part of the quests needed to become a werewolf but I cant go any further along this questline because they say I have to finish this quest before they give me a quest.
- Xbox 360 Proving Honor Quest: When trying to complete this quest you are sent to speak to Skjor to complete another quest for the companions but when sent he will not appear within Jorravaskr or even Whiterun, the quest marker will point randomly to the map and the compass will glitch and point you in the wrong direction. Even upon reaching the right location though he will be no-where in sight, which is very annoying and there is no way to further your advancement in the companions quests thus preventing the ability to become a Werewolf or gain any acheivements, Bugger...
- (PCU) [Control] Un-Changable Keybind Malfunction: After it had worked for the first 30 hours, all of a sudden, the un-changable keybinds stopped working. For example, tab no longer exits screens, i need to use Esc. A and D no longer turns the key hole while picking locks, so I can't pick locks anymore. Pressing R no longer does any of it's various functions, such as collecting all contents or transfering contents from your inventory to that object. All functions that you are allowed to change the binding for still work. Unsure what patch it is, but it is the most current patch on 12/2/11.
- Quest -> Trouble in Skyrim: I killed the bandit leader by passing through volthem keep by chance prior to starting the "trouble in skyrim" quest. Now that I started the "trouble in skyrim" quest bandit leader is dead i can't complete the quest. The body is just laying dead with the quest maker on it. Therefore I can't move any further with the companion quests.173.88.140.37Try using "resurrect"; open console with the tilda key [~`] and click on the bandit's body. Then type in "resurrect" and hit enter. He should respawn. Kill him again. I haven't encountered this issue but it may help.
- Quest->Eye Of Magnus (xbox 360): You run in and then immediately Ancano starts attacking.
- Try using a scroll of harmony or calm spell.
- PS3 Inventory bug: When Looting or buying from NPCs you can't move the cursor around to select different items. Work around is to exit out and move you character and try again.
- PC smelting/ enchanting/ alchemy etc. bug: when attempting to smelt, enchant, use alchemy, a workbench, and a forge, the character pauses reverts to 3rd person mode for about 3 seconds, then resumes 1st person mode without activating the smelter/enchanter etc. Version 1.2.12 (This can be fixed by readying your weapon then activating the smelter/enchanter etc. Fix found by Orchan)
- Crash: Computers can crash when the player attempts to read a book. This usually happens when the player has been playing for over an hour.
- A known bug is if you don't come along immediately with Farkas after Kodlak has been killed you won't be able to complete the Companions. When you return Farkas is known to just sit next to the body of Kodlak and the player is not able to interact with him because 'he's busy'.
- If you already killed everybody at Knifepoint Ridge for the daedric quest 'Boethiah's Calling' it may get stuck at the part where it says that 'you have to kill everybody stealthily. It can be solved through putting on the Ebony Mail but this doesn't work always.
- (PC) Unable to complete "Skooma Trade": Wujeeta is killed by a dragon and the skooma trade quest can no longer be avalable to complete. resurecting her will just yeild the resualt of dialog as if you had competed the mission, thus preventing you from even obtaining your "Honeyside" (your house in riften) from the Jarl.
- Unable to complete quests or trade with any characters (PS3): For some reason, players are not able to complete any quest. Once they have completed an objective, the quest do not update to give them the next objective. For example, in the quest "The Only Cure" the player is given the objective to kill Orchendor. Once killin him however, does not allow for the quest to update to have the player return to Peryite. A bug that is somehow related is not being able to trade with any characters. Players are not able to buy or sell things. Instead, when choosing the option in dialogue, the NPC says what they would normally say and then no trading screen pops up.
- Xbox360, I was recently running through the Thieve's guild quest line, where I was tailing the lizard dude got to a loading screen and the entire game locked up. I tried to restart my 360 only to find the first loading screen to lock up every time.
- PS3 - After I completed the Nightinggale quest line I exited the cave and found that I could not fast travel or wait because "guards were pursuing me." I painstakingly traveled to all of the holds that I had bounties in and paid them off, yet the problem persists. Now I cannot fast travel anymore, nor can I sleep or wait.
- PC- As previous bug, but started after the end of "To Kill an Empire"
- Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary Glitch(Xbox 360): After finding out the "Emperor" that you killed was a double, I fast travelled to Falkreath to make my way to the Sanctuary, as it does not show up as an icon to fast travel to on the world map. Upon arriving, and killing off a few armed opponents, every time I go to enter the Sanctuary, it shows a black screen(like a loading screen), and just stops. I've tried restarting my Xbox, but nothing seems to be working.
- Same scenario, only freezes upon entering the Night Mother's coffin. The screen fades to black and you hear the coffin supposedly crashing through the window and into the pool of water below, but the game never progresses, stays at the black screen until the system freezes.
- PS3 - In third person view, character lazily floats around the game world, as a ragdoll. You can still fire arrows and attack, but it's impossible to control direction or movement. First person is normal, while third person is floaty and unmovable.
- Xbox 360: I got the quest from Jarl of Winterhold to go get the Helm of Winterhold from Deepshade Refuge. I got this quest early on and just kept it in my Misc quests to complete later. Later, I got the Meridia's Beacon quest from Mount Kilkareath and to complete Meredia's Beacon, I need to find the beacon. I have read that both are random and populate in random locations around Skyrim. For my game, I am sent to Deepshade Refuge to get the Helm and Yngol Barrow to get the Beacon. Apparently, both locations are the sites of other quests as well.
So, I go through Yngol Barrow, there is a book outside the entrance (I've read if it's not there you might have problems) and I find the dead researcher and his journal. I solve the 4-pillar puzzle and open the gate, & continue on until I reach the dragon claw puzzle. I realize I don't have a claw to open the door. I search and search the dungeon, read the book and journal, retrace all my steps and it's just not there anywhere. I guess it was supposed to be on a pedestal after the gate puzzle where the researcher was. I have a coral dragon claw and a sapphire dragon claw on me from previous quests but neither one works for this door. I have tried dropping the claws and picking them back up but that doesn't work either.
So I read some forums and they say that Birna in Winterhold gives you the claw as part of the quest to retrive the helm of Winterhold from Yngol Barrrow. Only in my game, I go through the dialogue with her and she never offers me the option to buy it, and also the Jarl doesn't send me to Yngol Barrow, he sends me to find it in Deepshade Refuge. There is no claw anywhere, so I can't complete the Meredia's Beacon quest.
My whole style in Bethesda games has been to do mostly side quests for most of the game and saving the main questlines for last. Apparently this is the worst way to go about playing Skyrim. I am level 54 and have no desire to start over. I've already played almost 150 hours.
- (PS3) I don't know about anybody else, but I am on my 2nd playthrough lvl. 42 and my save file is 11 mb. I downloaded the new patch that is suppose to fix the lag, but it didn't. The game would be ok after 30 min. of playing until the lag comes back and gets worse to the point that it is unplayable.
- Xbox360: when using the lift to get to Skyrim in Blackreach, you are not able to move or excess the menu. The game just flashes over and over.
- Xbox360: During the quest "The Battle For Fort Dunstad" enemies do not spawn. Due to this, you will not be able to finish the quest.
- (PS3) In Battle for Fort Sunguard enemies and stormcoak allies do no spawn leaving me unable to finish the quest. The first time i was there i ran through in werewolf form all the stormcloaks were there trying to kill me but now no one is here.
- (PS3) On the main quest to the Thalmor Embassy, Malborn Sometimes fails to make it to the party and wanders the wilderness for (real time) Hours. I have yet to confirm if he will ever make it to the embassy because he has circled winterhold for 5 (Real time) Hours, I had saved before talking to Delphine, So i had loaded it, went on to do other quests, for 2 (In game days) returned to Delphine to try and go to the Embassy, but again Malborn failed to arrive. (Uncomfirmed/ Unfinished observation)
- (Xbox 360) After killing Vokun and returning to High Gate Ruins at a later point to work on another quest, for example the book retrieving quest retrieved at the College. You are unable to get past the gates in Vokun's throne room.
- There is a solution to this bug. First you must have a companion with you. Go to the first room where Anska is waiting. Jump on the candlestick on the table so that you can get on the crumbled wall. Then get as high up as you can and whirlwind sprint to the ledge. Next wait near the gate. If your companion is on the same side of the gate move around and then wait again, try telling them to go to the otherside before waiting. When they are on the otherside tell them to pull the chain for you.
- (Xbox 360) Cannot attack anymore because of dragon shout and stuck as werewolf bugs: I used the Frost Breath shout on a Draugr Death Overlord inside Forelhost Crypt. he used Unrelenting force at exactly the same moment. i got blown away. When i stood up, the game said i was preforming a shout but i wansn't. So i couldn't switch shouts. I also couldn't use my weapons, magic or shield because i was "using a shout". I could use Beast form, but then i was a werewolf forever. So then i was stuck in the game as a werewolf were i couldn't pick up any items, forced to reload the last checkpoint.
- (Xbox 360) Game freeze when I'm about to finish a quest. This apply to any quest, so I can't go on with the game. The last quest I finished was The Eye of Magnus, after that I mucked around a bit. I was delivering that item to the Greybeards, and just as I'm supposed to get quest finished, the game freezes. I notice this happends everytime I try to complete a quest. Will try to load an earlier save-file.
- Loading screen (PS3) The game will randomly freeze sometimes when a loading screen appears when moving from one area to another. no apparent reason for the freeze, it just randomly happens.
- If using Become Erethral, your player can become permanently Erethral, causing the screen to turn blue, your player DOES take damage, and you can't absorb dragon souls or interact with any items
Moderate[]
This section is for bugs which mildly affect game progression or moderately affect gameplay.
Items Disappear From Home: Once I went into my home and went to my chest and all my items were gone and replaced with a set of whiterun guard armor and a note called mysterious note. This happened in sylgja's house in shor's stone when married to her. I know not much else about this.
- Quest : Blindsighted (PC) : As the player enters Irkngthand , Brynyolf and Karliah will start exiting the ruin instead of waiting for the player , Brynyolf will return to the Raged Flagon Cistern and Karliah will go to the Frozen Heart Cellar in Windhelm. The dialogue is as if they where in Irkngthand, commenting about the falmer and Mercer. If the player decides to go on without them, they will respawn behind the player after he enters the sanctuary which is another bugged part. Mercer will not be in the room and the player will remain stuck in an endless cutscene.
- General Stats (360): In the quest log the cursor will forcibly scroll down and will continue to do so. Close and open the menu can fix this problem.
- Upgrading Weapons\Apparell: (PS3 Known) After upgrading equipment the values change to improved item but when you find another same item later then your inventory will show just 2 x BASIC equipment and therefore you have lost the 'improved' item you upgraded to.
- Daedric Quest : Waking Nightmare. PC / 360 / PS3 (All confirmed) While following Erandur during any part of the quest, he may become stuck, skip to point that is inaccessible to reach, become unresponsive or disapear. No fix for X360 or PS3 although you may prevent some possible bugs by entering the Nightcaller Temple a couple seconds after he has entered, try not to enter at the same time as him.
- Erandur : Waking Nightmare Quest Fix PC (youtube) (PC)
- With the console commands;
- prid 0024280
- moveto player
- You can teleport him to your location, this fixes bugs incurred by him moving past doors/barriers he opens for you and can fix him from being unresponsive.
- Guardian Circle (PS3,PC,360): Even after completing the restoration ritual quest, players have not been able to buy the spell "Guardian Circle" from Collete Marence. She does not sell the spell at all, restarting the system doesnt help and waiting 48 hours for her to restart doesn't add the spell to her inventory. This is nowhere near a game breaking glitch, but it will bother the few gamers who are completionists.
- Ebony Armor (PC): The +25% for wearing a whole Ebony Armour doesn´t work. So even an Orc Armor is better.
- Pickpocket Success Enhanted Items (PS3/360/PC): Items with the pickpocket enchant worsens instead of bettering your pickpocketing odds.
- One-Handed skill decreasing (PS3/360/PC): One-Handed skill will sometimes decrease drastically for no apparent reason. It isn't shown in the Active Effects page, it isn't a disease, and it is not the result of anything quest related, but the font will be red when seen in the skill-menu. It can't be cured with a Cure Disease potion, nor can Altar do anything. The only cure is to level the skill, which is impossible if it is already 100.
- Archery skill decreasing (360/PC): Same as above.
- Stormcloak Quest to Take Whiterun: Brill, the new steward after the completion of the invasion and sacking of Whiterun, unfortunately, seems to perish during the fighting. This means that you are unable to purchase the house there or complete any other related quests. Only known fix is to tilde ~ and click on Brills' body. Then enter resurrect.
- Soul gems (at least PC): Filled soul gems which indicate still having the monetary value of an unfilled soul gem, when dropped on the ground and then picked up, loose their soul and become empty again. This also happens on the Xbox 360. Although since a Saber Cat attacked me while I was soul farming bandits, I accidentally filled a Black Soul Gem with a Lesser soul. The bug allowed me to get rid of it and use it for a bandit soul, so it's not all bad.
- Issues with Owned Homes Weapon Racks and Weapon Wall Placements (PS3/PC/360): Using storage areas such as bookshelves, weapons racks, armor manaquins, and wall hanging weapons displays doesn't function properly. (Possibly caused by recent patch) Books placed on your bookshelf have been known to just disappear, or become unable to be picked up. Bookshelves can also dissappear entirely. Some weapons racks and wall hanging weapons displays are no longer activatable since the patch. Also, weapons on racks in your homes just disappear. Cannot fix by deleting patch since Skyrim won't load any saves that were made with the patch installed. (360)
- Animal Extermination Quest (PS3): This a a generic job done for the Companions. This particular one I was asked to kill a sabrecat at Greenspring Hollow. I did, but the quest failed to progress further. I've waited over a week back in town and the the sabrecat hasn't respawned. I can't drop the quest or take any more from the guild. I imagine reloading a preveous save would fix the problem.
- Enchantment Bug: The Fortify One-Hand enchantment doesn't apply to daggers whatsoever. However the skill itself applies to raising dagger damage, but not the enchantment for some reason; Fix! (PC, PS3, 360)
- In Cidhna Mine, after completing The Forsworn Conspiracy and No One Escapes Cidhna Mine the pathway to Markarth Ruins will be locked and require a key. Upon being jailed for the first time after these quests, the iron cell door immediatly behind the player is bugged. There are no labels attatched to the door; because of this it it impossible to escape out this way thereby making the only option sleeping to end the sentance. This, however, is also impossible because of a lack of bedding in the mines, thereby trapping the player. (It is unkown if this is due to ending the quest, or if this is a post-patch glitch, or if the mines have always been like this. This player was never imprisoned before the patch or quests.)(NOT BUGGED: In the mine, you mine to serve jail time, not sleep)
- College of Winterhold Side Quest/Find the Copy of Fragment: On Artaeum: ((Xbox 360, PC) When the Fragment: On Artaeum is found before accepting the quest from Urag gro-Shub in the College of Winterhold The Arcanaeum, the quest can not be completed. The game keeps the quest destination arrow over Faldar's Tooth on the map, the Fragment: On Arcanaeum, cannot be drop (quest item), and the book can not be given to Urag gro-Shub. The game does not register that the book has already been found. (Xbox 360) Souls, Black and White one of the many books you must find also will also not register if found before the quest is given. [This also happens if you already pick up the book Cleansing of the Fane. . It will not let you give Urag the book and you cannot drop it. The quest also stays in your log, which is very annoying to me.] This may be the case with several of the books you must find. Workaround: Type "setstage mgr20b 20" in the command console without quotation marks.
- [Patched] Cache: Having a savefile that's larger than 5.5 mb can cause your game to lag as well as cause confusion in the saved world with unlimited results of missing or moved items, non-loading objects or textures. (This is a PS3-bug only) This has now been patched with the 1.2 Skyrim Update. Many PS3 Users still report severe game lagging and stuttering with this patch.
- Graphics: After a certain playtime, entering indoor areas can cause the game to lag graphics. This bug is often faced in caverns, dungeons or houses with fireplaces. The only way to get the game back to normal is to end it to desktop and restart it. Or on consoles, quit the game, turn off your console and restart it. On the PC version lowering shadows quality from ultra to high or medium can fix this issue. [This has been since the 1.2 patch]
- Mouse Stuttering (PC): From time to time, the mouse will stutter uncontrollably and sporadically even when your FPS is high and stable. Some users report that it occur while they wield spells like Flame near a wall, therefore especially inside a house or a cave. Mouse Acceleration and Vsync have been identified as the cause of this problem but it can still persist at times when they are turned off. Also, this may cease to happen if the game launches in Window Mode (use Simple Borderless Window to play in a window fullscreen-like).
- All Quest Items: This is a bug on all quest items in Skyrim. Whenever you take a quest item before you get the related quest it will stay in your inventory for ever (for example Finn's Lute, the Amulet of Talos in solitude etc). So leave all quest items untouched until you get the quest. (So you don't need to check every single quest item, I suggest not to go into any caves or ruins unless there is a quest pointing you to it.)
- Follower Leveling: Follower skill levels and core stats remain static from the moment they are first loaded in a zone, although their stated character level increases along with the player. There are two known exceptions: Uthgerd the Unbroken levels archery and blocking, while the Dark Brotherhood initiate levels all skills. Bethesda's intended follower leveling design is unknown, so it is unclear to what extent this represents a bug. (PC/360/PS3)
- Follower Gear Duplicates When Dismissed: The hidden base armor and weapons that all followers have are duplicated when you dismiss and then reacquire them. If you dismiss a follower several times, they will eventually be unable to carry anything.
- Dragon Souls: After killing a dragon, it fails to give you a soul or decay away, if it happens at a dragon wall, you are unable to learn this word, and the dragon priest will not spawn, also the dragon will not re-spawn. (360/PC/Ps3 Confirmed)
- Spells: Augmented Flames/Frost/Shock perks do not increase the damage of Flame/Frost/Lightning Cloak spells.(PC)
- Shouts: I am unable to see the the second and third word of Fire Breath. The words are not appearing under my shout list. It says i learned them when I go up to the walls but they do not appear under shouts.
- Shouts: After visiting a second wall for Ice Form and learning second word, second word did not appear in the Ice Form shout, walls having second word learned (not second word in shout) and third word to be learned (not third word) have no visual effect, but audio effects remain. No option to unlock words, as they are not present in shout. (360) Most likely same as case above.
- Dark Brotherhood quest "Contract: Kill Ennodius Papius": Killed Enodius Papius but the quest objective does not clear. The arrow remains over his dead body. You cannot report back to Nazir to complete the quest and, therefore, cannot continue the Dark Brotherhood quest-line. Reloading and killing him repeatedly did not work(360 - in this case). You may sometimes also find that when you talk to Nazir to obtain the quest, it is not added, and you may need to talk to him a few times.
- Mainquest "Diplomatic immunity" [pc]: In the dungeons, there is a trapdoor leading to the 'reeking caves'. To obtain the key it is dropped from guards, however the guards only enter after speaking to a prisoner chained up in his cell. Should you free the prisoner, the guards never come and you may not continue. --- You can add the key per console to open the trap door: "player.additem 000e3f98 1" where 000e3f98 is the "Trap door key" to open it. --- Quest will continue, when you have everything talked or asked to the prisoner.
- Mainquest "Diplomatic Immunity" [ps3]: At the same point described above, it is also possible to free the prisoner without obtaining the needed information from him. The quest then switches to an alternative target, a book located inside a treasure chest in this area. Taking the book causes the quest target to disappear and the guards never enter. Since you cannot fast travel away from the Thalmor embassy, a person who does this will be completely trapped and unable to finish this quest or do anything else in Skyrim. Fix: Upon reading the book (the game gives you no indication this is required) the Thalmor guards will immediately spawn, along with the wood elf friend of yours who they intend to kill. You can use this glitch to position yourself by the door they use before reading the book to give yourself a positional advantage in attempting to save the bosmer's life.
- Companions Quest/Hunting Silver Hand for the first time: (Spoiler) When you first turn into a beast and wake up outside a fort and get a quest to clear it out, you will eventually find Skjor at the end dead. When looting his body (the wolf chest, boots and gloves) and returning home, the gloves was gone. Checked inventory several times, even went back to the fort. It's gone. (PC/360)
- Thief Guild Quest Bug : After completing the "Loud and Clear" quest, the next quest, "Dampened Spirits" is not added to your Quest Log. It also no longer lets you talk to Brynjolf or Maven Black-Briar for more information (360/PS3/PC)
- Mainquest -> Alduin's Wall in Skyhaven: Major bug while trying to finish the mainquest in Sky Haven Temple... I used to visit that temple without the NPC (during exploration). Now I have to walk through the temple, NPC are staying in front of the first puzzle (I already solved without them).. I can't make them go on... (PC)(This cannot be fixed with Unrelenting Force, they just reset. Fast traveling to other locations, attacking/incapacitating them, and waiting 24 hours does nothing either). (Confirmed on 360. I had to reload a file before Diplomatic Immunity to fix it.) (PS3 aswell, have no saves before solving puzzles without NPCs, cannot advance in main storyline.). As described here there is a workaround:
- Enter the cave and run to the first bridge
- NPCs will now get stuck at the bridge and not move
- Run to the quest arrow (the big face on that opens when you put your blood on the seal
- Run back to where the NPCs are and they should now start moving towards the main quest area
- Once you reach the quest area do it as you normally would
- After quest NPCs will say something like "you go ahead"
- Don't go ahead, run behind the male NPC and use your level 3 force shout to throw him into the now open hallway behind the face
- Mainquest- In The World Eaters Eyrie: When you go into Skuldafn the puzzle at the end of the room does not work, even if you do do it right the doors will not open.
- Winterhold Collage -> Under Saarthal: With this quest on the PC, at the point when you get locked in the room and you break the door to exit the game will freeze if you can view the door crumbling. This happens with ALL video cards, drivers and settings, only one person posted they could get past here looking at the door with an on-board chipset. The only work around for this is to not being able to fully see the door when you break the door.
- Location/Quest -> Ancient's Ascent: Going through the cave Bonechill Passage on PC in full screen cause's the game to crash just after entering. Using windowed screen allows going through Bonechill Passage..using full screen at any point inside this cave causes a crash.
- Controls: unable to switch back and forth from first to third person view. hands have vanished from the screen even while casting/using a weapon. ( 360)
- Flame Cloak hurts Followers: Using a Flame Cloak scroll or spell will routinely harm followers who hover too closely, causing them to die and/or turn on you (PS3)
- Flame, Frost, or Lightning Cloak bug, (PC,360) - Casting cloaks when you have a summoned atronach causes the astronach to be dismissed. A simple fix is to re-summon the astronach after you have cast the cloak, but you need to do this every single time in order to have both spells active.
- Mainquest - *Spoiler* Where you fight Odahviing in Whiterun near the end of the Mainquestline, the guard who is supposed to release Odahviing might be dead if you don't lure Odahviing in on time, causing you to not be able to go any further and causing you to have to reload an earlier save.
- Locations/Quest -> No one escapes from Cidhna Mine - If player doesn't surrender to guards immediately, and instead runs to a different location like Cidhna Mine before surrendering to guards, then after the questline is finished, the guards will continue the "No one escapes from Cidhna Mine dialogue" when the player commits a crime therefore making the player unable to pay off bounties and effectively banned from one of the 5 major cities in the game, Markarth. (How to fix bug: Go back to the Temple of Talos, there should be 3 guards waiting for you there, talk to them, keep talking -- even if you choose "I submit, take me to jail." choice, it'll go back from the beginning of the conversation. Kill them three, and the bug should be gone. If not, here's another way: *spoiler* later on in the dragonborn quest, you will make a peace conference in High Hrothgar, having the Imperial side and Stormcloak side in there. If Markarth had Imperial army looking for you, replace them with Stormcloak -- How? In the peace conference, Ulfric will want to get Markarth as part of the deal in the peace treaty, give Markarth to the Stormcloak, that should fix the bug. Hope this helps! -Paul Rex [GT: Azeroux])
- Location/Quest -> The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller: After going to Ustengrav to obtain the horn from the tomb, and you find the note that tells you to meet 'a friend' in the Sleeping Giant Inn, and to rent the attic room, the floor on the left side of the Inn can disappears and make it impossible to move on with the quest. [This does not happen to everyone, I have successfully completed that quest, Delphine comes to meet you after you sleep on the bed.]-confirmed on PC
- Location/Quest -> The Cure For Madness: In a similar fashion, when entering the Dawnstar Sanctuary, in the Dark Brotherhood quest line, after you catch up to Cicero and make the choice, the entrance/exit disappears. Loading a previous game, inside the Sanctuary and far from the door, solves the problem. Also, looking at where the door frame was shows the action button "To Skyrim". (PC)
- Quest -> Red Eagle: Sometimes after killing Red Eagle you will not be able to loot his body, reloading and killing him again should fix the problem
- Quest -> Rescue Mission - Rescue Sigurd: After killing the bandit chief at Valheim Keep I could not locate Sigurd. I've looked everywhere for him and he is nowhere to be found. I've returned several times. The map shows as cleared. Unable to advance quest chain further.
- Companion Quest: Animal Extermination. If you've killed the Sabre Cat early on in the game (while walking through Greenspring and being attacked by the cat), this quest leads you to the dead cat with the quest marker hovering over it, but does not allow you to finish the quest.
- Forbidden Legends Quest: Going into Geirmund's Hall and defeating the boss early will sometimes cause him to vanish when he dies and teleport him into the cavern wall, causing the quest to be incomplete-able.
- Forbidden Legends Quest: Upon arrival into Geirmund's Hall after dropping down the hole and slaying the draguers, there is only one way out and that is via the puzzle involving the four rotating pillars in order to open the door. Several have complained of not being able to activate the pillars in order to spin them, causing them to be stuck. Being that there is no door you can go in and out of to reload the game, the only way out is to go back to a previous save or autosave and start it over again, therefore reseting the pillars, but if you do not have an autosave or previous save before it you are stuck until it is patched.
- Items...Equip Volsung and a falmer helm...You get an invisible head, and the armor from both helms
- Missing Phinis Gestor: Many players didn't found Phinis Gestor in the College of Winterhold on PS3. So they can't get the Lord Dremora Summon.
- After Picking up Notched Pickaxe you can no longer start the quest titled, All Along the Watchtower
- When you first talk to Sir Ridestalk you can't ride it
- Companion Questline Broken - Xbox 360/ PS3 (contains spoilers) : when you complete the quest to kill the Glenmoril witches and you return to Whiterun you find Aela and Torvin outside. They tell you Jorrvaskar was attacked by the silver hand. When you enter the building Vilkas will tell you about a plan to stop the silver hand but no new quest begins. The NPCs are just stuck crouched over the dead bodies. This occurs when you have already cleared Driftshade Refuge. (Edit) I have not cleared the Driftshade Refuge, but am still encountering this glitch. (Edit) I had Driftshade Refuge as the random destination for the Helm of Winterhold quest. I tried clearing it before and after turning in the Glenmoril witches quest and neither worked, so the bug may not have anything to do w/ Driftshade Refuge. Need more info.
- Thieves Guild - When you get the Dampened Spirits quest to see Maven Black Briar, if you do not go straight to her and take your time doing side quests and whatnot the quest will delete itself from your quest log. You will not be able to finish the Thieves Guild quest line after this bug occurs, as the questgiver does not recognize this. Update: If you break into the Black-Briar Meadery prior to receiving this quest, it will bug out. (Xbox 360, PC)
- Boethia Quest : Even with the appropriate level and the appropriate weapon, nothing happens after you sacrifice a follower. Although I tested with Lydia, mercenaries or anyone else, I killed them with the Sacrifice Blade and nothing occurs after. Tested at level 57, playing on Xbox 360, quest correctly given, marker located at the shrine of Boethia. Also, if you've previously traveled to Knifepoint ridge, an ore patch will prevent you from progrssing any further within the mine. This prevents you from being able to complete the quest. Edit: *This might be an issue of not completing quest objectives properly. Your follower must be commanded to "activate" the pillar and not just killed with the blade near the pillar for the quest to properly work.
- QUEST:(REVEALING THE UNSEEN) for PS3: after i leave the Mzulft ruins and travel back to the Winterhold College grounds i have to follow the way-point inside the hall of elements, where both Savos Aren (Archmage) and Mirabelle are trying to get past the energy ward Ancano is casting, after they do the Archmage tells Ancano to stop and starts walking towards him, then a burst of energy explodes and i wake up in front of Mirabelle who is sitting on the floor.after she tells me that the Archmage has been blown clear and i should find him,i answer i think i'm ok the quest (revealing the unseen) is finished, but the way-point showing the position of the dead body of the Archmage which i am supposed to find disappears and the next quest(containment) doesn't start. After a few seconds Mirabelle stands up and has nothing to say but idle conversation as if nothing is happening(while Ancano is still messing with the Eye of Magnus) and if i follow her she even walks on top of the Archmage's dead body as if everything is normal! ****confirmed happens on PC also.happens on xbox 360 also
- jarlief in winterhelm has a marker above his head but doesnt show any optional referances about the quest i completed,
- Joining the Thieves Guild: After talking to Brynjolf when getting caught stealing the ring he will not go down into the Ragged Flagon to start the Taking Care of Business quest, instead he remains at his stall day and night no matter what. All the other vendors are still gathered round as if distracted and do not move. (Sometimes the questline will change from A chance arrangement to Taking care of buisness, in that case stealing something will not fail the quest and reset brynjolf. This bug also makes it unable to join the Thieves Guild.
- Floating walking/running body (PS3) (Not tested on PC or Xbox)- by shouting ice form at an enemy and placing a frost rune where they fall and if they die to the ice rune they will levetate off the ground and continue to walk in one spot, however you can still search the body. (Note: test many times works very well on animals such as goats.)
- Raldbthar (Dwemer Ruin) Drawbridge Will Not Lower (Xbox)- Even after removing the obstructions from all the gears in the Deep Market, and the button becomes press-able, and the centurion appears on the other side of the drawbridge, the drawbridge will not lower when the button is pressed. The first time the button is pressed, it makes a click sound, and the sound of lowering the drawbridge plays, but the bridge does not lower. Pressing the button again yields no click sound or result. The centurion walks around on the other side of the bridge and sometimes clips through the still-upright bridge. Neither loading a save nor leaving the area and coming back fix the problem.
- Kill Paarthurnax BUG (PC) - This quest can be still obtained after the Main Quest has ended, which is how it becomes bugged. It is sometimes impossible to complete due to Paarthurnax being marked essential after the main quest has ended. He will land after the main quest ends and he will be perched on the wall of dragon words. If you choose not to kill him, talking to the greybeards or Paarthurnax and even Esbern appears to do nothing and the quest will remain in your quest Journal as incompleted.
- Beginning of Game quest (Xbox 360) - After updating to the 1.2 patch, started up a new game. After the dragon attacks and your character runs into the first tower, the dragon is supposed to bust out a wall and shoot flames. On first go, wall was not busted, NPC not killed, and progression was impossible. Reloading the game may fix the problem, as the second time around the dragon destroyed the wall, did not shoot flames, and stayed perched at the hole. Jumping through the hole into the house below causes the dragon to go about his business. Third time through, glitch did not occur.
- Centurion Steam Effect Attached to Player Character (PC) - When using Aura Whisper in Blackreach, a Dwemer Centurion effect becomes attached to the player character, causing steam to issue from his/her body and sparks to shoot from his/her knees. This is highly annoying and makes fighting dragons a much greater challenge as the steam hovering over one's head makes it hard to see. Several players have reported this on different forums. Only known fix is to load an earlier save and avoid using Aura Whisper while in Blackreach--a real pain if you aren't sure when it began or how many hours of play you've lost before realizing your problem. Also may help to type 'player.addspell 00030fbe' (turning into the centurion form without changing the skin) in console and then type 'player.removespell 00030fbe' (3 confirmed cases of the solution).
- Xbox 360 - My High Elf's Highborn ability is always on. Happened when I used it right as I zoned thorugh a cave opening while the animation was still going. When I exited, the screen remained blue-ish and it would not shut off. Afer a few minutes, the screen went back to normal, but the effect is still going. I had to reload a much earlier save to remove it.
- PS3 - Dark Ancestor Quest : I cleared the Bloodlet Throne before activating the quest in Falkreath. I went back to the Bloodlet Throne => Impossible to get inside, the dungeon wouldn't load. I had to restart the PS3. No solution so far.
- Becoming Thane (Xbox 360, PC): If Maven Black-Briar is Jarl of Riften, and you buy Honeyside from Hemming to become Thane of Riften, the dialougue with Maven will not appear, and you cannot become thane.
- I cannot become the Thane of Riften with the original Jarl in place. I have helped the 5 people, bought and furnished the house, and my objective marker points to the Jarl. However, the dialogue options do not appear to have me become thane. I started the misc. quest chain to become thane with the original Jarl. It's kind of annoying as now the "Return to the Jarl of Riften" journal entry will not clear out, not to mention not being thane.
- This will happen if you exit the building (or area, not sure since didn't experiment on the bug) between buying Honeyside from the stewart and telling the Jarl you've bought it. If you talk to the Jarl straight after buying the house, she will have the option to finish the quest and make you a Thane. (PS3)
- The Courier Glitch - There is a courier in the game who, once a set amount of time has passed in the world, seeks you out and hands you a leaflet about a museum of the Mythic Dawn. The problem with this is his script allows him to interrupt the player, no matter what he/she is doing at the time. For example, during the main quest it is required for you to meet with a certain member of the thieves guild for information. When you first meet him, you have the option (with a high enough speech skill) to persuade him to give you this information otherwise you must perform a thieves guild task for him first. The problem is, if you back out of this dialog you lose this window of opportunity - meaning that if the courier chose this moment to drag you out of dialog to hand you his leaflet then even 100% honest characters will be forced to undertake tasks for the thieves guild. The only known fix for this is to reload from the most recent save (usually an auto save) and wait around until the courier finds you and hands you his leaflet before continuing with your mission.
- Thieves' Guild (PC) - The characters get stuck and don't move anywhere, just stand there looking dumb. Because they don't move to a specific place they need to reach the quest pauses. Can be fixed by waiting an hour (except for that one where you get the Skeleton Key)
- Magicka Regeneration (PS3) - When you enter combat, your magicka regenerates much slower. Enchanted items still affect regeneration speed, but not as much as they do as when you're not in combat (This might not be a bug, as some players say this is observed in other Elder Scrolls games).
Minor[]
- This section is for bugs which have little effect on gameplay or have a small effect on sidequest progression.
- When taking an item off a table there is a chance that all other items on that table will become invisible, they will remain on the same spot in the exact position and can be interacted with ,but cannot be seen. This happens most frequently with the table in The Midden next by the atronach forge, making the illusion ritual quest hard to complete because the book that is on the table is invisible even with the spell , making one think that the book is just not there.
- Also when removing an item off a table all other items on that table will start rising slowly and then float above the table at a small distance.
- When the player is looking at a dugeon entrance in the game and has the white writing on screen for example "To White River Watch" instead of entering, if the player loads up a previous save while the white writing is on screen, the writing will be there when the save is loaded, and will not go away even when entering a cave, house or any other load screen. To fix this, the game needs to be restarted and the writing will be gone. (Tested on PS3 and on multiple dungeons)
- The Blue palace will occasionally glitch out where you go through the door and it opens the blue palace, but it is also still connected to the outside world. You can still fast travel from inside the palace. Strange.
- NPC's despawning from the game: After I completed the quest unbound and started the golden claw I went to get a woodcutter's axe the ruins. Then I went back to Riverwood and Hod wasn't there so I waited ## hours until morning and he still wasn't there.I have tried to see if he came back or not and it seems he is completely gone. Also, he is the only person I have found so far that will take firewood.
- Using Companion as a Mule: when dropping multiple items and telling companion to gather them, they all 'disappear' and assumed collected. However, only one of each is collected. Reclaiming through trade with companion returns one item. If you return this to storage, ALL remaining such items are labelled as stolen! on restarting the game, found all 'missing items' were back in storage and no longer marked as stolen.
- Anska's Scroll:If you do not complete this quest the first time you are in the dungeon there is no way to complete a second time. The dragon priest does not respond the second time, which means you cannot kill him a second time, which means you can not open the gates a second time. Everything must be done at once. I assume this is a bug, shouldn't the gates stay open.
- Riverwood Trader: Items in the Riverwood Trader in Riverwood cannot be stolen, as they are classed as being not owned. Fix: This is not a glitch. Once you are friends with a character many items belonging to him/her may be taken without penalty. In the case of the Riverwood Trader, completing 'The Golden Claw' quest is sufficient to gain the friendship required to take many of the items within without committing a crime. This can also be seen in Alvor's house - when you first enter with Hadvar all of the items within are tagged such that taking them would be stealing. When Alvor offers you a gift, many of his other items around the house become free to take although some still retain the 'steal' tag.
- Crimson Nimroots (XBOX360): After collecting 7 of the crimson nimroots from the cave where they are, I left. When I ran out of carrying capacity later on I started eating all of my ingredients, and accidentally ate them. The quest now says I have -7/30 or however many you must collect, and there's no way to complete it.NOTE: This happened to me but there are more than 40 crimson nirnroots and I think they may respawn.
- Windhelms House: Weapon Racks and Weapon Wall Placements (Xbox 360) : Once you purchase the house in Windhelm and purchase the Armory upgrad the weapon racks, weapon wall placements, and shield placements do not work. You can not activate any of them to store and decorate the house. The game doesn't even give the option to place the weapon on the wall or the rack unlike it does in the brotherhood sanctuary or the house in Whiterun.
- The bug stated above also applies to the house in Solitude. (xbox 360)
- It also applies to the shield & weapon rack above the fireplace in the house in Riften. (360)
- Bookshelf Bug - bookshelves in any owned house in Skyrim are suddenly and inexplicably inaccessible despite being full of books. None of the books are selectable despite the titles appearing, and you cannot open the shelves either. (360, PS3, PC)
- Confirmed. I found this happened whenever I tried to place more books on a shelf than it says will fit. i.e.: it says 10 of 10 books are on the shelf, trying to place an 11th locks the shelf up and all book become inaccessible.
- Walking Faster While Overweight: When you are everweight, notch an arrow and you will actually walk faster. (Tested on PC whilst crouching)
- Discerning the Transmundane/Quest Items: When you deliver this quest, you can loot the remains of the lunatic-mage (the Runed Lexicon) and you find yet another Attunement Sphere in the dungeon your qust takes place, meaning after the quest, you can end up having a total of 2 Attunement Sphere's and 1 Runed Lexicon in your inventory. And if you choose to do so, when filling the Lexicon in the dungeon you can also pick up the Elder Scroll which weighs 20 lbs. The spheres and lexicon weighs nothing, but take up space in your inventory, but the scroll weighs a lot. ALL items are non-dropable, forcing you to carry them around. You can sell the Elder Scroll to the Librarian at the Mage Collage, option shows up as a conversation question. (PS3,360)
- Bard's College/Pantea's Flute - Finding Pantea's Flute, located in Hob's Fall Cave; before activating the quest; prevents you from getting the correct dialog from Pantea after finding all the instruments (you get the dialogue to retrieve the flute, but if you have it already, you can no longer engage in conversation with Pantea), and prevents you from obtaining +1 to all Magic Lineages (Destruction, Restoration, Illusion, Conjuration, and Alteration). Quest cannot be completed. Obtaining items before quest activation may prevent completion of quest altogether. Ran across the flute by accident, and couldn't remove it, or get the quest completed.(Xbox360) - Beware
- Bard's College/Quest Items: When collecting the Lute, Drum and Flute for the different college teachers; Delivering/handing in the quests doesn't actually rid you of the quest items, leaving you with all three items still in your possession resulting in a total of 10 lbs of dead-weight taking up your inventory. This is very annoying when you have the same bug with other items gathering up a lot of weight you can't get rid of, forcing you to level your stamina eventually. (Note: version 1.2.11 somewhat fixed this: the items will remain, but will weigh nothing, despite what they say. Drop all non-quest items, and you'll have 0/XXX)
- Marriage Ceremony: During your marriage ceremony, after your spouse gives his/her vows, they will sometimes randomly leave the temple while Maramal is still talking, and will disappear, not to be found anywhere. This can be solved if you quickly leave the ceremony and initiate the conversation with your spouse about where you should live. (360, PC)
- Companion Quest; Escaped Criminal: There's a chance that Escaped Criminal can move from an active quest to a completed quest without having finished any of the quest objectives. Players have reported having no marker for the criminal, and the questgiver exhibiting indifference as to whether or not he/she's dead - killing them (if you happen to find them) does not complete the "already completed quest." This bug locks you out from receiving additional companions quests (PC)
- Jarl-Quests; Solitude: In your quests towards becoming a Thane in Solitude is bugged IF you happen to have helped 5/5 citizens before entering the phase where you have to help 5 citizens and purchase a house. The quest WILL however complete, you will become a thane and receive a housecarl, but the quest objective won't disappear from your quest journal. It will stay there saying "Help citizens 5/5" confirming it's complete and ready for delivery, even if you've delivered it. May also affect other major holds, but not for my playthrough. (360,PS3,PC) Can be fixed if you invest in a store will go to 6/5 citizens and then will disappear. (Confirmed)
- Jarl Quests; Riften: Jarl Maven Black - Briar gives no options to become a Thane even after 5/5 citizens are helped and a house is purchased. (360/PS3) (Confirmed)
- Jarl Quests; Winterhold: Once you return the Helm of Winterhold, you may be asked to retrieve it again, but from a different dungeon. (PC/360).
- Collect the bounty from Skald in Dawnstar: Once you have completed the quest it will stay in your misc. (PC) (Confirmed) Can be fixed if you complete another quest from Skald. (NOT TRUE! Did another quest for Skald, entry remains) What if he isn't Jarl anymore? Note: If you use console code SetObjectiveCompleted BQ03 before turning in the quest it will fix this bug.
- Buying a house; Windhelm - Steward in Windhelm continuously claims house is not available for sale even if all prerequisites are met.
- Quest Items/Non-dropable: When entering Solitude for the first time (spoiler) and witnessing the execution, if you loot the executed's body and take his amulet, it will stay in your inventory (seemingly) forever. It's a necklace of Talos weighing 1 lb, and every new amulet you pick up by accident will stack on to it and adding weight. They will not be able to be dropped either. Much like the book you're supposed to get for the mages guild librarian (i.e. Remanada) in his misc quests, it adds dead weight to your character. This bug CAN be catastrophic resulting in Encumbrance that won't go away, forcing you to focus on stamina when leveling up. (For the Amulet of Talos) Find a little girl running around Solitude and talk to her about her mother going to temple. Talk to her mother, Greta, and she will want you to take the amulet of Talos of the mans body. I already had it and she says "Here's something for your trouble". You get nothing and keep the amulet, and the side quest isn't removed. However I am now able to drop the Amulet of Talos (360) (-Quest Items do not weigh anything towards your character so not to worry about your stamina being up- To prove it empty all of your inventory into a chest, but the items that cant be dropped will stay in and look at your weight it will say 0) (Quest completion is still bugged in 1.2 on PS3). When collecting the Stones of Barenziah, you cannot drop/store these anywhere, and they each weigh 0.5, which counts for quite a bit when requiring to collect 24 of them. (XBox 360)
- Duplication Glitch: (PC) When dropping several silver swords from my inventory and exiting the menu, a message claimed I was over-encumbered though I had only used half of my carrying capacity, I checked my inventory and I had over 300 silver swords.
- Dragons/Dragoncorpse: Sometimes when killing a dragon quickly, or with a huge damage weapon, and sometimes with a Soul Trap enchant on it, the dragon will not start to disintegrate, therefore not giving you a Dragon Soul. ALSO when the dragon decides to pay a visit to a city (for me it was Whiterun near the entrance, yes inside the city) the dragons skeleton will never disappear. Months in-game has gone by, and the skeleton just spazzes out on random locations near the entrance, and won't go away. Edit-This is not a glitch. Dragon corpses are supposed to stay visible, however they do get "refreshed" when zoning into an area somewhat randomly. (360/PS3)
- Loot/Dupe: Items looted from a corpse that have a world model and fall from the NPCs upon death (e.g. weapons and shields) will sometimes not despawn the world model when the item itself has been looted from the corpse's inventory, allowing players to pick up the world model and obtain a duplicated item.
- Remarriage: If you kill your spouse, the game will not let you marry again. (PC/360)
- Elder Scroll Drop: After completing the main Quest, you cannot drop the Elder scroll. This is a slight issue as it weighs 20 pounds. (NOT A BUG - PS3/360/PC - You can sell the Elder Scroll to Urag at the Arcaneum (college of winterhold) for a leveled amount of gold.)
- 'Companions: Hired Muscle- '(PS3) If you finish the companions main questline and get the Hired Muscle quest where you have to beat up the Maro guy in Dragons Bridge you cannot if you finished the quest destroy the Dark Brotherhood. All he says is that he will make sure the empire knows of what you did. No conversation box will open. If you start punching him he will either just stand there or start fighting with you and you will get a bounty if you beat him.
- Alchemist's Shack: After use of shack as home, it appears to reset itself. All items are lost from barrels. End table appears to be fine. Occurred after dark brotherhood quest. (360)
- 'Stolen Labeling: 'If you have an item in your inventory that was not stolen (such as arrows, potions, etc) and you steal the same item (from a house or just random theft) it labels ALL the identical items as Stolen, and therefore you are unable to sell it to a merchant, regardless of the fact that you had one that was not stolen before. This has happened with arrows, maces, potions, and a piece of armor. The only way to reset is to sell all the items to a fence, then if you pick up the same item again later it will not show as stolen. As a result I tend to store most of my items before going on a run to avoid the labeling issue. Edit-If you have stolen and legal versions of same item, they will be lumped together as one and labeled as "stolen" however if you go to a fence and sell the items one at a time (as you always should for max experience), the stolen items will be sold first, and the item description will change as soon as all stolen goods are sold. ie. If you have 15 Iron Ingots, and three are stolen, sell three to a fence individually, after the third is sold, the "stolen" label will disappear. (360)
- Stolen Gold (PS3): If you've stolen or pickpocketed gold at any time, all of your gold is labeled as stolen. Dropping different values into a chest doesn't change the stack labelling, the only way to fix it would be to spend it all or leave behind your "stolen" gold.
- Spell Effect Failure: Enemies that re-spawn in areas you have already encountered on the overworld (ie, bandits or Forsworn residing on the walls of a fort) will not be reanimated by necromancy spells. This may have something to do with the way NPC/Creature IDs are distributed amongst newly re-spawned enemies.
- Free Gold: if you travel to Winterhold and then travel south out of town, you come to a snow bear, defeat or run right passed the bear, just after that there will be a snow covered hill you can go up slanting up and to the right... go up the slope...at the top a cave icon will slowly appear on you on-screen map, follow until you get there there, Sightless pit or something like that, once you are there and facing the cave start walking towards the right and slightly left, should be heading southwest... there will be a upward slope covered in snow follow it up to the top, at the crest of that slope turn left and you'll see a shrine with skeletons around it, kill the skeleton on the tomb, then search him, you'll notice an ancient weapon, and a book of oblivion, exit his inventory without taking the book, re- enter his inventory and there will be 2 books now repeat this until you are almost over-burdened, then head to your nearest shop and sell...each worth around 50... have fun!!
- Sheath/Unsheath: Remapping this action to the middle mouse button will stop you from being able to perform certain actions such as dropping items and crafting. The action only seems to work when it is mapped to a key, so you constantly have to change the control temporarily to drop items or craft.(PC only)
- Shield of Solitude and Shield of Ysgramar prices are wrong. Shield of Solitude has 44 defense, 30% magic resist and 30% block chance...cost 1540. Shield of Ysgramar has 41 defense, 20% magic resist and 20 health...cost 1710. Leveled item or not...the cost should be higher on the higher stats. ( The Shield of Ysgrmor has high historical value, used by Ysgrmor himself. Possible explaination for higher cost. )
- Shield of solitude can be disenchanted...ALL other unique one of a kind items can not be disenchanted. (Notched Pickaxe can be disenchanted - Fount at the top of the Throat of the world)
- Bow attacks - Bouncing arrows: When you hit to kill someone with a bow. If you don't find ANY arrows sticking out of the victim. The arrow bounced off them and is likely some where between them and where you shot them from..can eve bounce farther back then from where shot from (retrieved a bounced arrow behind me, I heard it hit the wall behind me it bounced back farther then it was shot). Even a killed victim can have arrows bounce off them. Arrows bounce off twice as often then being lootable. Also heavier the armor higher the chance they will bounce. But bounced arrows always do damage.
- Nord hero weapon sharpening: The Nord Hero Bow can not be sharpened. Those that don't know. Nord Hero weapons can not be looted or bought, only forged by you in only one forge after a very high skill level in smithing and require a weapon as part of the smithing unlike all other smithing crafting. (Wrong, you have to have completed the Companions' questline until the point where a funeral is held at the Skyforge. After that, Eorland will tell you that the forge feels different. From then on you can craft Ancient Nord armor and Nord Hero weapons ONLY at the Skyforge. For Nord Hero weapons, you need to get the corresponding Ancient Nord weapon to craft a Nord Hero weapon. The armor needs the corresponding piece of Iron armor to craft. (No, it was correct (Except for the level requirement). The original statement said the same exact thing as you, just without spoilers.))
- Shout: Elemental Fury: The shout will only enhance the speed of un-enchanted, non-summoned, melee weapons. It does not affect bows of any kind, any summoned weapons, nor any enchanted weapons. It is assumed this is a bug.
- If you plan on using this shout you should use it with smithing enhanced weapons.
- Dual-wielding combined with this shout results in very high dps, even without using "Fortify Smithing" equipment for your weapons.
- Bow: I don't know what caused it but I loaded an arrow and went into third person from first his hands had glitched so that his bow was in unloaded position but he had an arrow in his hand. going back into first person made it think there was no arrow and I couldn't reload another. fixed by changing weapons,
- Bards College: Viarmo: After complete Tending the Flames Viarmo will never put his torch away he will for ever hold it. A workaround this is killing Pantea Ateia, either by your own weapons or casting Fury to make the town kill her (using the console does not work). You may resurrect her afterward.
- Ice Wolf - not attacking: Ice Wolves have a tendency to glitch during combat, they will chase the player but will not attack. Reloading saves does not solve this issue.
- Bards College quest: Finn's Lute over laps a quest from Kjar in Windhelm. You go into the cave for Finn's Lute and upon killing the guy guarding the chest holding the lute you get the quest to return to Kjar. (Know you're wondering, who's Kjar? and Why return to him?)
- Laid to Rest - quest bug: During the final stages of the quest, upon encountering Alva in the vampire cave, the NPC has a tendency to not initiate combat with the Dragonborn; if the player attacks Alva they will be met with a fine of 40 gold. Currently the only way to avoid this problem is to break in Alvas house while she is sleeping there.
- Unattainable Nirnroot: North of Bleakcoast Cave, and (far) west of Winterhold, there is a Nirnroot located inside a fallen tree trunk that I am unable to pick up, no matter how I approach it. (Xbox 360 + PS3)
- Unable to upgrade Ancient Shrouded Set: Cant upgrade Ancient Shrouded set even with Magical Smithing Perk. Message comes up saying "You do not have the required perk to upgrade magical items." ( CONFIRMED with Ancient Shrouded Hood & Gloves )
- Upgraded the whole set to Legendary with help of enchanted gear and fortify smithing homemade potion. 100 on smithing and all the perks. Without gear or potion, it get flawless but no error message or anything. Playing on the PC version.
- Atronach Forge: Atronach staves (all tested) do not do anything, this could be due to a range=0 error, or due to the staff being affected by perks (duration appears to be affected by atromancy,) or intentional. I've yet to find a vendor that will sell one of these staffs, so I don't know if it's in the staffs created by the altar, or all staffs. (PS3) (XBOX 360)
- NPC: Outside of Whiterun on road near the Chillfurrow Farm, there was 3 Wilmuth NPC's wandering around together, you can talk to them and they all give the same dialog.
- Inside Whiterun: Whenever inside Whiterun, Farkas will run up to you and start a random conversation, When you escape or stop talking to him, He follows you and starts another conversation with you, this loops over and over again untill you leave whiterun or can get far away enough from farkas to where he won't follow you (Confirmed Fix: Go to jail and serve your time Farkas will act as he normally should). (PS3)
- Proudspire Manor in Solitude: When entering the house and going to the manequins, If you equip Dragonplate armor, the Manequin turns invisible. I have only tried this with the Dragonplate Armor so far. (PS3) [Also effects Thieves Guild Armor, and Hooded Thalmor Robes, can be reset by adding and removing other clothing items, or necklaces] (PS3)
- Outside of Kynesgrove a Frost Dragon was flying around backwards in no apparent pattern. I tried to attack it with magic and arrows and only hit it once in 10 mintes of running around. It attacked bears and a giant in that time but flew off before i could close enough to target it.
- Dark Brotherhood Fines: The player can be fined for attacking torture victims in the Dawnstar sactuary.
- Ulfberth War-Bear Enchant Removal Glitch: (360. May be with other merchants too,) If you are leveling your smithing and enchanting at the same time, you may find yourself in a situation where you have a mass of enchanted weapons (for this explainiation I will be using Iron Daggers) that do not stack. And if you also have a stack of unenchanted iron daggers at the same time, and you sell the stack of iron daggers, the rest of the enchanged versions of that weapon will all loose their enchants. For example, you have 6 iron daggers with Banish on them that aren't stacked (I use this example because this is what I was doing when i discovered this.) You also have a stack of 5 unenchanted iron daggers. You sell the stack of unenchanted ones, and then all the enchanted daggers loose Banish and you are left with a stack of 6 iron daggers without enchants.
- Steam going out of your character after fighting a Steam Animunculi (Centurion). Your character will have 2 large streams of steam going upward from his head, 2 more from his waist going sideways, and sparks coming out of his hips (apparently to the Centurion). It has occured inside Blackreach but could probably occur inside another dwemer ruin. This is quite annoying mostly if you play in 3rd person view, and seams to affect the stealth ability.
- The Sneaking Bug (PS3): This bug occurs when you save the game with your character in 'sneak' mode, hidden, close to a hostile NPC. If you attempt to continue sneaking about and are discovered (the NPC becomes hostile), reloading the save file will return you to your original spot but you have already been discovered by the NPC and he is immediately hostile. To fix this, load your saved game a second time. This means that if you save the game while sneaking, you must load your game back up twice in order to the state you were in when you made the save.
- Companions Purity Side quest (PC): The 'Purity' quest is only available from Vilkas. Farkas offers no option for this nor for any other radiant quest. When attempting to complete it with Vilkas he refuses to follow you to Ysgramor's Tomb and the quest is moved to the completed quests list. Tried the solution of turning down Vilkas' Purity quest but neither Aela nor Farkas are offering any other radiant quests - only the option to 'Follow Me'. Also tried variations with different numbers of Glenmoril Witch Heads in inventory; wearing the Amulet of Mara; re-entering Jorrvaskr and disable/enable commands but nothing has worked.
- Reachwater Rock (PC/XBOX): There seems to be "air pockets" in the water of the first room. When you reach an "air pocket" you will 'fall' and you will hear your character gasp for air like he/she just left the water.
- Weapon rack in Breezehome no longer allows you to put weapons on it, unconfirmed whether or not this is a bug occuring for more people. Previously, activating it would allow you to store weapons on it for display but that option is no longer there, joining the list of already bugged weapon racks. (PS3) [Display Case Fix] I think the display cases are in your Windhelm home after it has been fully upgraded, if you drop the item you want to display then look at it so "Take ____" appears, hold down the button to take it, this will allow you to move it, simply use your right analog stick to "levitate" it and place it into your display case. Voila!
- Darkwater Pass (Xbox 360): Darkwater Pass stays undiscovered on the map, even though i cleared it twice. It also says cleared on the map, but teleporting there isn't possible because it's still "undiscovered".
- Torches multiply (Xbox 360): It's possible for torches to multiply inside the players backpack. I began with two torches picked up (with none in my bag at that time) and ended up, several days later, with 8 torches in my backpack, even though i hadn't picked up any other torches.
- Horses walk away (Xbox 360): When winning the brawl against the stable owner of Riften Stables, you can use his horses for free. But when you take one, and teleport to somewhere other than a capital city, he starts walking away. This horse spawns as normal at your side, but unlike horses you bought, the horse begins to walk away, back to Riften Stables, doesn't matter where you are. (Not a bug. These horses aren't yours, you can only borrow them. This behaviour is typical for horses in friendly stables, mostly camps of stormcloacks / imperials if u joined one of this fractions.)
- Quest (Find Red Eagles Sword): After completeing this Miscellaneous quest you will get the quest again randomly. Sometimes by reading its book again, sometimes just wandering around. Going to where you completed the quest and removing, then replacing the sword will complete it, then it will reappear in your quest list again later. This is not an overly annoying bug for anyone who doesnt care about their Miscellaneous quests, but for completionists...
- NPCs Travel With Your Character Through Doors (PC,PS3, Xbox 360) : Noticed only in towns, though it may occur outside of towns. If an NPC is talking to you, even in a passing moment, entering or exiting through a door will cause the NPC to travel with you through the door and appear at your side. YouTube clip confirming bug (uploading at 7:25PM EST, 12/12/2011, should be up within 30-45min of this post): http://youtu.be/jDGlJsndlE4
- Easy kills without bounty: Summon Flame Atronach, kill him, repeat. Do it near a person and eventually the person will die, and you will not be convicted!! (confirmed xbox 360)
- Un-minable ore: After mining ore and then returning after the ore has respawned (one in-game month), you will not be able to interact with the ore vein. It shows the colour like it has ore in it, but you will not be able to activate it and you can walk into it. Exiting the mine/cave and then re-entering will fix this bug.
- Random Inventory Jumping (XBox360): When depositing items from your inventory into a container, or selling to a merchant, the menu is inconsistant in what happens once afterwards. Sometimes the above item is selected, other times the item below is selected. This can even occur when attempting to deposit small numbers of stacked items, ie. selling 5 apples individually may result in the menu jumping to the item above once the first two have been sold so you inadventantly sell or deposit the wrong item.
- (Xbox 360) Forelhost Crypt traps: Several of the traps located inside Forelhost Crypts which have pressure plates, still go off even though i have the ability Light Foot, which should prevent that.
- (Xbox 360) Frightened Woman: I'm really far ingame, completed the whole main quest and a lot of side quests. But there's a Frightened woman right next to Pelagia Farm. He just stands there doing nothing and isn't "frightened at all". She just says "Huh?" and "need something?". She doesn't move and you can't talk with her. Can she still be there as a leftover of the Battle of Whiterun?
- (Xbox 360) Stormcloak camp!?: There is a new stormcloak camp in between Pelagia Farm and Honningbrew Meadery. I've competed the quest line and the imperial side of the rebellion. The camp is empty, except for one Stormcloak soldier, who i friendly to me (even though i choose the side of the empire). The soldier just stands there, bended over a map saying "I will kill the next imperial i see". It this still here as a leftover of the Battle of Whiterun?
- (Xbox 360) Draugr spawning at your place: For some weird reason, everytime i fast travel to somewhere and my horse get's spawned next to me (So not in several capital cities), two draugr corpses spawn right underneath my horse. I looted the corpses, and now they stay empty, so it's always the same two.
- (Xbox 360) Nirnroot right not fading away: Never had this before the last patch. Since the last patch, every time i pick up a nirnroot, the light around it doesn't fade away. It just stays there.
- (Xbox 360) Receiving books twice: I was doing the quest The Lost expedition in Nchuand-Zel. But every book (except spell tomes) i found, i got it twice. So 2x Alethius's Notes, 2x Erj's Notes, 2x Krag's Journal and 2x Stromm's Diary.
- (Xbox 360) Skeleton stuck in wall: It is possible for one of the enemy skeletons to become stuck inside a wall outside Fort Snowhawk. It'll be completely stuck inside, so the player can't see it. But the red dot points there, he can be heard making the "skeleton sounds" and my horse tries to attack it, running against the wall all the time.
- (Xbox 360) Quest Family Heirloom: The quest Family Heirloom is being offered by Skjor instead of Vilkas, even though he should be dead. (Completed the companion quest line)
- Sometime, while wearing a Morokei, the game will not let you mine ores. (See video #6)
Unsorted[]
- (Graphical)(xbox 360) There seems to be a graphical glitch tied to the Argonians. The backs of most helmets will not appear when worn by the player character, a few exceptions of this being the Iron Helmet, Daedric Helm, Scaled Helmet, Hide Helmet, and the Imperial helmets. Other helmets such as the Steel Helmet, Dragon Bone Helmet, and Elven helmets are missing the back section of them, making most helmets look rather ridiculous on the Argonian race. The Ancient Nord Helmet also does not properly change over from its male version to the female version when worn by the female Argonian. It instead stays as the male version with no back to the helmet.
- While a Vampire, NPC's will no longer make comments about your characters race. (Argonians will call you a "Landstrider" even if you are also an argonian etc.)
- (PS3/Xbox360/PC) "Blood on the ice" Quest: You wont be able to start this quest for numerous reasons. [[1]]
- Gloombound mine: For some reason you wont be able to interact with the doors and are able to walk through them. (PC) (Xbox)
- Trouble in Skyrim: (Xbox) if you already killed the Moss Mother Cavern previously, it will ask you to kill a dead body (impossible) unable to finish quest.
- Blades Members: (PS3) (Xbox 360) If a follower dies after he has been inducted into the Blades after you have 3 people, you cannot add new members. (Confirmed) When you talk to Esbern and receive a dragon hunt quest, and you show up to the site, your companions dead bodies will spawn on the approach to that site.
- Duplicate Armor: (Xbox 360)(PS3)(PC) - Once you are able to refurbish the Dawnstar Sanctuary for the Dark Brotherhood, go to Delvin in Riften and purchase the bedroom. Go to the Sanctuary and in your newly purchased room there is a mannequin on your left as you walk into the door. The first thing you put on this mannequin will be what infinitely duplicates. Put on your choice of armor (without exiting the inventory) take it off, then leave the Sanctuary. When you return to the room the armor you put on the mannequin will have duplicated. Any apparel you find that is pre-enchanted will have the enchantment that was already assigned to it upon you finding it, however if you enchant an item it will not retain that enchantment once duplicated. This glitch also does not work if you equip a shield to the mannequin. Works with Daedric Artifacts. (Not Spellbreaker). (Confirmed)
- Quest: (PC) (Xbox 360): "Blood in the Snow". Unable to start this quest. Susanna the Wicked will never leave the Candlehearth hall, therefore will never be killed. (Spoiler). Cannot use commands to force start quest. Cannot use commands to set quest to different stages. i.e. "setstage MS11 0,10,20." or "startquest MS11" The door to Calixto's House of Curiosities may remain permanently locked. If you steal Calixto's key and take the Butcher's Journal (Spoiler) from the locked chest above the entrance Calixto may disappear entirely. Finding said journal does not start the quest nor does killing Suzanna The Wicked or Calixto himself.
- Glitch: (Xbox 360) - I have turned in four Larceny objects and went and got the last three. I was able to turn in the first four fine but I can't turn in the Queen Bee, the Honningbrew Decanter and the Dwemer Puzzle Cube, and in that order. When I picked up the cube it listed something on my screen about the bee and the statue but I couldn't catch what it said. I now have those items but Delven Mallory will not prompt me to turn them over.
- Same happened to me as well on (Xbox 360). However if you can revert back to a previous game save before you picked up the Dwemer Puzzle Cube, you can return the other items. It still will not allow you to return the Cube for whatever reason though.
- Same happened to me on (Xbox 360). I collected the last Larceny objects I needed, East Company Trading Map, Model Ship, and the Dwemer Puzzle Cube (in that order) and tried to turn it in and could not. I loaded a previous save where I only had the EC Trading Map and Model Ship and I was able to turn them into Delvin. Afterward, I retrieved the Dwemer Puzzle Cube again and tried to turn it in but the option did not appear when talking to Delvin.
- The reason why this happens I believe is because the bust of the Gray Fox completes all of the other The Litany of Larceny quests once you turn it in but if you obtain the left eye of the falmer before you turn it in then if you pick it up it automatically completes them in your journal. So it might not be possible to turn in both the eye and the bust.
- Quest: (PC) - Quests will be unable to complete if you have previously cleared an area or picked up an objective that is part of a quest. Known: If you pick up "The Brothers of Darkness" before you start the quest from the Mage's College, you cannot complete the quest. The same applies for clearing out Craigslane Cavern before "disrupting the Skooma Trade". Both are miscellaneous quests.
- (PC) Quest critical items don't show in dead creatures inventory to be picked up (e.g. Jagged Crown) or quest critical items added to inventory disappear as if they were never received (e.g. Elder Scroll), both stop quests from being completed. (Confirmed)
- Also happens in your initial quarters at the College of Winterhold, as well as the Archmage's Quarters.
- To fix the item scattering, all you have to do is place them in the place you want a second time (Occasionally more that that) and they should stay in that place. I've noticed the scattering doesn't happen wit all objects but most of then do. ( I'm not sure if this works, but what you should do is after you have placed the item in the location you want it, then pick it up by holding A, but don't move it. Then press A again to let go of it.)
- Dropping Items: Sometimes, certain items dropped will return to where they were dropped from the inventory after saving and loading a game, even if you moved them elsewhere. confirmed (360/PS3)
- Quest: Nazir from the Dark Brotherhood will not have the appropriate dialogue options in order to trigger the second set of side contracts. (PC, PS3)
- Esburn doesn't talk in 3 Quest and in Cornered rat he doesn't open the door for you to rescue him
- Player: After changing your race through the console, if you already obtained Beast Form, you revert back to your old race after Beast Form runs out.
- Not a bug/glitch: Console commands are not intended to be used during gameplay. The player can't change their race without the use of the console, so obviously there's no way to encounter this problem without it.
- (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) Misc Quest glitch: Return to the Jarl of Riften, Speak to the Jarl at Riften. Unable to complete either after purchasing and upgrading home in Riften. Jarl has no option to make you Thane.
- Shout (PC): After completing the Jagged Crown mission cannot get the shout from Korvanjund. The word slightly lit up, but the normal effect is missing. This may because the first and third words for this shout were gotten first. (Confirmed)
- Quest 360: "wait for Brelynn's Spell for expire", She walked around a wall while I was talking to her, so the wall was between us when she cast the "spell", so the spell never landed and affected me, so it can't expire even though the log thinks it did.
- Game Play:360 : Dead Dragons stopped dissolving and giving souls. I have 8 unspent souls. -suspected you cannot farm certain dragons for souls, needs verification.
- Dead dragons may sometimes re-spawn. You will not earn souls for killing a dragon who's soul you have previously absorbed.
- I fight re-spawned dragons all the time, and 9/10 times i get their souls, i don't think this is where the problem lies. I think it has to do with the way you kill them. some spells/weapons tend to leave you with a "dud" dragon that gives loot, but no soul.
- Not really a bug as sorts, most of the time it will happen with dragons from the mountain shrines that give you words, once you killed the dragon guarding there, its respawn will most of the time not give you any soul, however in certain cases (like the dragon upgrading from elder to ancient) the soul will still be obtained. (Note: sometimes the dragons will fly pretty far from their guarding spots, so it may seem like you are fighting a different one, when you aren't really.)
- After being given the sub-quest to kill the dragon at Eldersblood Peak, the dragon (which had been killed earlier) went into dissolve mode before its life-bar had fully emptied. It yielded its soul in mid-battle, but went on fighting in skeleton form, unkillable but able to kill. Eventually it flew off, killing on the way, and met its end at the hands of a Frost Troll. The skeleton was never found, and may have simply diasappeared, but the quest was completed about ten minutes after the soul had been absorbed.
- Quest 360 the wall for the sapphire dragon claw won't open. I've entered the right pattern from the claw. Even looked it up and tried all combos. (Confirmed)
- Quest 360 " Help Selveni Nethril escape the cave" she walked and got stuck to close to the cave entrance without leaving. so when you go back in to talk to her, you can't get close enough to speak to her, trying just makes you exit the cave. Fix - Shot Selveni Nethril with an arrow, this seemed to push her out of the cave. Nethril was nowhere to be seen when I exited the cave, but the quest was completed. The 'Unrelenting Force' shout works. Stand at the top of the little ramp that takes you out of the cave and let rip. (NB -- on a second run through, neither of the above solutions worked, and the quest remains unfinished, with Selveni stuck in the cave entrance).
- Quest: 360 "Tending the Flame". Get all the way down to where the Bard's body is, and your supposed to pick up the verse, but its not there. the arrow is, but nothing. So, you can't go on, can't open the wall for the claw (coral dragon claw), and you can't complete the quest to gain entry to the bards college. Fix - Try reloading an autosave from a few minutes back and the verse will be on the ground where the arrow points.
- Quest: after completing the quest "Good Intentions" from the College of Winterhold, Savos Aren does not give you the revealing the unseen quest, also talking to Mirabelle Ervine without the quest won't start it. It only happens to some players and this is reported on the Xbox 360.
- Quest: "Hired Muscle" - NPC objective already dead. Can't complete Companions mission as Alvor was previously killed in a random dragon fight earlier in the game. (PS3)
- Environment: Shadow flicker bug - Shadows flicker from the movement of the day/night cycle creating a flashing strobe effect. (Xbox 360, pc, and ps3)
- NPC: Yatul - Randomly spawns around, even if you are talking to her she'll just instantly move a little distance away. (PC)
- Quest: The Throat Of The World - "Talk to Arngeir" Arngeir is stuck outside he doesn't move unless you fight him close up, when you talk to him he says "Come inside, the others will meet us there."
- Quest: The Jagged Crown - If you explore Korvanjund and kill the bandits before doing this quest the entrance is blocked. (to stop the player from getting the crown to early)
- NPC: Sinding - after he becomes a werewolf and escapes, if you do the following quest and spare him, he ends back in the Falkreath Jail, but for no apparent reason. (PC)
- Quest; Speak to Greta about going to the Temple of Divines: If you have already looted the Amulet of Talos from Roggvir's body after his execution when picking up this quest - when you speak to Greta about going to Temple, she will give her completion speech but the quest will not complete. You receive no reward and the Amulet stays in your inventory. This also seems to happen if you are already in possession of an Amulet of Talos when you loot the Amulet from Roggvir. (Confirmed)(PS3)
- NPC : Critters: I have noticed in exploring Skyrim that occasionally rabbits will be hopping along underwater in the middle of a lake. Likewise, I have been chased out of a pond and for a good long ways across land by an overachieving slaughterfish. (PC)
- Quest: Season Unending: Ulfric Stormcloak will not talk to you if you are also on Joining the Stormcloaks. Additionally, if you have already spoken to General Tulius and had him agree to meet at High Hrothgar, Galmar Stone-Fist will no longer speak with you, preventing both quest lines from moving forward. (PC, Xbox AND PS3)
- Quest: When you talk to the Jarl of Whiterun to capture a dragon in the palace, he stops you from ending conosations, stopping you from progressing though the story, side quests and buying or selling items. (PS3 and only sometimes).
- Quest: Revealing The Unseen: After you have found the ruins of Mzulft when you go in the first doors Gavras Pinius will not speak to you, die and you are unable to pickpocket him. He just talks saying normal NPC lines.
- Quest; Trinity Restored: If you wait too long to meet Karliah at the standing stone she disappears, and Brynjolf returns to the Ragged Flagon.
- Quest item/Quest; Find Books for Urag: At the library of the College of Winterhold, you get miscellaneous objectives from Urag in the Arcaneum to find Unique Books (there's only one of them). Problem is, the books are available from the very beginning of the game (even in a boss/end chest, making them easily picked up by players), and is tagged as quest items (therefore, unable to be dropped). Furthermore if you accidentally pick them up before getting the quest, the quest won't update even though you already have it in your inventory. There's NO way to drop the books and pick them up again to update your quest, resulting in a quest never being completeable and a 1 lb book stuck in your inventory forever.
- Quest item/Quest; Arondil's Journals: While attempting to turn in the journals to Vekel the Man in the Thieves Guild, the quest does not finish correctly. Vekel will give his completion speech, but you will earn no reward, and the journals will still be in your inventory.
- Hjerim: If you buy Hjerim, sometimes happens that the steward of Windhelm does not offer the "Clean up the murders mess (500)" in the decoration menu. To see the effect of the bug see this for reference.
- Animation: When smithing, the piece of metal is held with the red hot end pointing in the wrong direction and the metal becomes stuck to your arm until you stop blacksmithing. Confirmed for PC, Xbox, and PS3.
- Companion: When you enter the maze at the Labyrintian if your follower is Lydia she might get stuck in the maze just past where you enter and will be unable to leave the maze. She will continue to follow you into the maze for only a short time. After you reach a certain point the she will step back and stop following you. At this point, she won't leave through the entrance or follow you to the exit and will become stuck forever. This is also true of other followers (Confirmed on Xbox and PC and PS3.)
- House Companion: Lydia often gets stuck in the sit / stand up animation in breezehome at the table in the bedroom of the player. She repeadedly sits, then stands up and sits again etc.
- Nightingale: After finishing the thieves guild quest, if you return to the Twilight Sepulcher Inner Sanctuary after completing the Dark Brotherhood quest line, there is no longer a way to change your Nightingale ability. The room is completely different and only the one pad that you stood on to get whatever ability you have is still there.
- Nightingale: Step on the pad, wait 24 hours in the room, then step on the pad again and you may get a different ability.
- Nightingale Twilight Sepulcher Inner Sanctum: After a good deal of time passed I returned to the twilight sepulcher and stepped through the portal and the Inner Sanctum has reverted to it's "original' state. The three pads are not their nor are the portal graphics. However, all the effects still exist. The pad areas will still give their respective powers and I can still leave through any of the doors. Karliah states that there will be a portal to the Inner Sanctum through Nightingale Hall (Near Riften). This has never appeared for me, and Karliah never comes to Nightingale Hall. I've read that she shows up in the area where you originally met her. (XBox)
- Armor: Dragon Armor and Daedric Armor have the same quality. (PC)
- Quest: The Forsworn Conspiracy (PS3 and PC); while Eltry asks you to investigate around Markarth, he mentions to check in with him after you find out who was behind the recent murder. If you do not check in with Eltry after EACH clue you find (you have the opportunity to find them all from the start), upon return to Eltry's (when prompted to) he is found dead on the Alter of Talos, where a guard now stands where he once was; meanwhile the indicator arrow to "talk to Eltry's" is still hovering where he should be. At this point the quest is uncompleteable. Note: Depending on the choices you make, Eltry's is SUPPOSED to die, however in this scenario the quest is supposed to expand to the guards arresting you at the shrine.
- Quest: Find Hrolfdir's Shield for Igmund (Xbox and PS3)--Numerous reports of clearing out the Hag/Forsworn building to find nothing in the marked chest (where the shield should be located). In some cases the chest itself is not even present. The quest is then not able to be completed, as a result it is impossible to become Thane of Markarth and the house cannot be purchased.
- Quest; House of Horrors: In the mission House of Horrors the door locking sequence was reversed so I
- was free to leave during the screen fading and Daedra worshipping moments but after I had used the Alter the door to the outside locked me in. When i went back through my autosaves and tried to just leave the house, no matter what i did i couldn't make the screen effects go away.
- Companion: When entering Black-Briar Lodge, speaking with Lydia (If she is set as your companion) will result in her saying "You're not supposed to be in here!" angrily and her dialogue box will not appear.
- Quest: In the Revealing the Unseen Quest for the College of Winterhold, on the Focus the Oculory objective if you exit the dwarven ruins and re-enter - possibly turn off and resume game - Frostbite and Flames no longer have an effect on the focusing of the light.
- Quest: Disrupting the Skooma Trade/ Riften Quest - If you have already cleared out Cragslane Cavern before starting the quest, you cannot finish the quest. (PC, 360) On a PC, this problem can be fixed with the console command "setstage freeformriften01 40". (This has been confimed for PC. This bug also exists for the Xbox, however, it cannot be fix using the "setstage freeformriften01 40" command.)
- Quest: Kolskeger Mine stays full of "Forsworn" after completing the quest and clearing out the mine (PC)
- Shout/Effects: Elemental Fury can cause left handed weapons to swing in super slow motion when not affected by the shout. Can stop the swing by sheathing the weapons or switching to a spell. Both weapons will swing at the appropriate speed as the shout is affecting the player, once the shout ends, the weapon will swing extremely slow again. Only occurs when dual wielding two weapons. Single left hand weapons swing normal, and fists swing normal as well. (Can effect the right hand instead of the left hand as well.) This bug is rumored to be fixed by getting an enemy (Draugr) to Disarm Shout at you. NOT confirmed.
- Shout/Effects: After shouting Elemental Fury, there is a chance that the heavy wind sound won't stop after the shout ends and keep sounding forever, no matter what you do (quit and reload, fast-travel, use Elemental Fury again nor a different shout...). This also can happen with the Chillrend weapon and other Shouts, the sounds keep repeating just like the Elemental Fury bug. Might be the same problem. (Video Demonstration ) This bug is rumored to be fixed by getting an enemy (Draugr) to Disarm Shout at you. NOT confirmed.
- Bound Spell: Casting the Bound Bow spell and immediately crouching (before the summoning animation completes) causes your weapon to be permanently sheathed. The only recourse is to reload an older save (the bug persists even after changing weapons/magicka).
- Quest: Glory of the Dead will not begin after completing Purity of Revenge quest (Xbox 360, PS3)
- Companions questline: If you have already cleared Driftshade Refuge beforehand, at the completion of 'Blood's Honor' for the Companions, the game offers you no dialogue choice to accept the following quest; essentially breaking the progression of the Companions quest line until fixed. (PC, 360, PS3). Note that some reports will say that such and such misc. quest sent them to Driftshade Refuge, but it's the actual killing of all bandits in the location (resulting in it being marked as "Cleared") that triggers the bug.
- Environment: In the Riften Prison the wall disappears incredibly often.
- Companion: If a Companion gets caught in a swinging door trap in Bleak Falls Barrow at a low level, they can go through the wall, never to return. (360, PS3)
- Perk/Effect; Infinite slow time: Sometimes when being attacked by 2 or more enemies when you have the slow time block perk you will enter a state of perpetual slow motion. This will allow you to easily dispatch pretty much all enemies with ease. This effect will persist through changing zone or reloading and can make mundane tasks, such as unbarring doors and reading books, painfully time consuming. To remove this infinite slow time you have to enter combat and block another power melee and it should drop naturally. You can also wait to remove the infinite slow.
- Animation/Alduin: In the first fight with Alduin he may look like he's standing in midair while shooting fire at you and dragonrend won't affect him (NOTE: Alduin being unaffected by dragonrend is intended - there is a global variable that sets whether or not he's affected by it, so leading to obvious intention.)
- Quest: Blade in the Dark: Cannot complete blade in the dark when the dragon shouts and the other dragon comes out of the burial this does not happen instead he just keeps shouting
- Quest/NPC: In companions quest when you are supposed to give aela her shield you will be given a marker near a giant/mammoth camp and she will be nowhere around and completely vanished from the game making the quest impossible. While outside Whiterun, there is a quest indicator on the city gate, showing she is in the city, but she is not. She never goes to her bed in the basement of Jorrvaskr. (360, PS3)
- Shout/Graphical: Second word of power for Clear Sky's shout won't update. Either disappears when you get close or will flash in and out. (possibly related to flashing graphics bug, possibly happens shortly after reaching lvl 13) PS3.
- Quest; Stromcloaks Storyline: The quests "Joing The Stormcloaks" & "Season Unending" stop me from talking to Ulfric, he says you have to complete "Joining The Stormcloaks" but you can't talk to Galmar either, he says a piece of dialog relating to "Season Unending" (this may be fixed by punching him, worked first time but is still in testing for all consoles)- confirmed for PS3 -
- Quest; Blood in the Snow: After finding both journal entries and investigating the house during "Blood in the Snow", you may be unable to talk to the Jarl's assistant, despite the quest description directing you to him.
- Quest; Blindsighted: In the thieves guild quest Blindsighted the cutscene with Mercer always makes him get stuck on a rock or something and the movie clip will never end. Another bug related to this quest is one in which upon leaving the dwarven ruins completly and returning, neither Nightingales are there. No fix found and although you may continue the quest, I'm unsure if they will teleport to you.
- After defeating Mercer and the room fills with water Karliah will walk around under water before disappearing into the ceiling, making the quest uncompletable.(360)
- Quest; Under Saarthal: In the Under Saarthal quest, Collect the four artifacts able to collect the first 2 but gate is up preventing from picking up the other two including the necklace that allows the gate to be moved. (PS3/PC).
- Quest Items: Sometimes Quest Items can be dropped and can be lost forever. (360, PS3)
- Perks: The matching set perk has no effect on ebony armor (legendary or regular). (PC,PS3)
- Graphics: Boots of the Old Gods have a different model than previewed (with transparent ankles)
- Graphics: Helmet of the Old Gods has a different model than previewed.
- Quest; House of Horrors: 'House of Horrors' Bug - On entering the Abandoned House for the quest, the Justicar does nothing, in order to continue the mission you must kill him, after continuing to the Daedric altar and after the ensuing dialog, you are unable to leave the house. (Confirmed on Xbox 360)
- Quest; Reveal the Unseen: Dwarven Armillary Quest Orb cannot be expanded/shrunk with Frostbite or Flames. People have to revert back to a previous save game before placing the orb in the armillary before continuing. (Confirmed on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3) (Video Demonstration )
- Dual Wield: Improved weapons of the same variety (i.e. Orcish Sword Superior, Fine Steel War Axe) cannot be dual wielded through hotkeys or on the favorites menu. They will also unbind the key. (Confirmed on Xbox 360 and PC)
- Quest/NPC/Riften: After placing the ring in pocket successfully unable to speak with Brynjolf in Red Flaggon successfully to join the thieves guild. The game continues as if he is still giving his speech in the marketplace. This also means no traders in the marketplace can be traded with as all act as if not at their stall. [This is caused by starting the quest at night, it allows you to complete but Brynjolf doesn't move on talk:Bugs] (Xbox 360 and PC)
- After completing the initiation to the thieves guild and having to meet Brynjolf in the pub in the ratways, he does not seem to want to leave the marketplace. After reloading an autosave several times I managed to get him to go to the pub. Once there I only had the dialogue option to ask where the ratways were even though I'd obviously just been through them to get to the pub. I managed to force the right dialogue by repeatedly spamming him with dialogue. The next mission for him them, collecting the gold from people in the city went okay only to return to him still causing a diversion. Talking to him to does force the correct dialogue options and also the reward but when asked to follow him to meet someone (leader or something) he just stands there causing a diversion and when activated he just says "nearly there" or something like that. Very frustrating to be honest. . .
- Animation?: If you jump into water with a horse the horse will swim, if you get off and get on the horse again then you will ride as you do on land. (please improve this)
- Quest; The Way of the Voice: After you've been told to use your shout ability by Arngeir, the objective "Speak to Arngeir" remains uncompleted (PS3, PC, 360).
- Quest; The way of the voice: After you learn the word of power form Einarh, you're supposed to shout at the "targets". But when the Greybeards summon a "target", there is a summoning animation, but the "target" does not appear making it impossible to complete the mission. This reoccurs with several shouts from the Greybeards. (Xbox 360, PS3) (Unconfirmed: PC)
- Quest Item: When quests begin and there are quest specific items such as the litter around Diabellas chapel in "A Night to Remember" you cannot drop these items until the quest has ended. For example, the priestess asks you to pick up your mess, if you bribe her instead of cleaning, you can still pick up the items however those items will be considered 'quest' items until the ENTIRE quest line is completed, not just that section. Confirmed 360.
- Quest; Glory of the Dead: During mission, game gets stuck if Euorland doesn't attend the funeral and therefore cannot re-make the companions weapon.
- Quest; The Forsworn Conspiracy: During the quest, if you restart due to a fail and do not read the note to find "N" before you kill Nepos, you will return to The Talos to find the quest giver to have died and nobody will pin the crime on you or anything, leaving the quest unfinishable.
- This quest also appears to bug after you kill Nepos and go to find Eltrys, the Imperial Legion Guard will not arrest you. Instead he talks about joining the Legion and the other guards are equally unhelpful leaving the quest unfinishable.(PC)
- Item/Object Interaction: Weapon racks and wall plaques may not work. (360,PS3). NightShade25 (talk) 13:56, November 27, 2011 (UTC)Confirmed with ProudSpire Manor, Breezehome, Honeyside. They do not work at all in my particular game (X360).
- Item/Object Interaction : For some reason at some point you can't interact with objects anymore ( arcane enchanter, alchemy labs, mine ores, chairs etc.). When you click "use" your character only briefly freezes and after that nothing happens. (PC, Confirmed PS3). Unknown for now if this is a permanent thing, or if the glitch will 'wear off' on its own. Makes completing the early smithing quests in whiterun immpossible.
- Marriage; Lydia: For some reason you can't marry Lydia' even when you have the Amulet of Mara. And it has been confirmed on the Skyrim marriage guide that you can marry her. Website - http://www.gamefront.com/skyrim-marriage-guide/ (PC/Xbox360/PS3)
- Skilltree: Skills will be shown in red on the skills screen and will be shown as being lower than what they actually are, even when not currently afflicted with any debuffs (confirmed on active effects screen) [PC/PS3/XBOX360]
- Can be fixed with the player.modav console command. Add one point then remove the point and it will restore your original value[PC]
- Missing Animation: Not really a bug but when sheathing dual weapons the second weapon just disappears (i.e. Sword, War Axe). Animation for 2 sheathed weapons (either side) when dual wielding needed. [PC/Xbox360]
- Enchanting/Values: As you improve your enchantment skill, the value of the same item with the same soul & enchantment goes down rather than up. (work around Xbox 360, drop the item, and pick it back up, try it again.)
- NPC, Shadowmere: If Shadowmere is knocked down in water, he will not come back at a later time, or ever. (confirmed PS3,360)
- Quest; A Cornered Rat: During the quest, the sound of the dialogue while talking to Esbern does not play and the door to his hideout cannot be opened, making the quest unfinishable. On PC platform, you can enter the Console (default key is the top left key, just under esc.) and write "tcl" to toggle collision off, enter the room and then toggle collision on again with "tcl".
- I was able to make the door open on the PC version by trying a few times and then zoning back out to the previous area and back in immediately. the door to his room was open when I returned. The speech sound bug persists though.
- Sometimes Esbern just stands in his room by the chest, refusing to move. You have to press "E" a few times quickly, and then you will be able to speak with him, asking him, if he knows a way out.
- Method 3: finish dialogue, go back to the rat cavern, enter the door, then go back. by then it should have opened.
- Real Fix (for PC): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4fZrCx-vLg (I was able to do this successfully, as were several friends -- the dialogue will work as it is supposed to in all Esbern conversations)
- Zoning/Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary: Sometimes when zoning into the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary character will continue to rezone randomly inside the Sanctuary, Re-zoning fixes this. Sometimes zoning animation happens more frequently after each initial rezone caused by the bug. (PC, 360,PS3 unconfirmed)
- Camera?: 1st person camera bounces off NPC's when face-to-face or preforming and close up attack. Example: 1st person crosshair when on the environment acts normally however when moving the camera to have crosshair on npc the cross hair bounces off when it hits the body.
- 'Graphical/'Item Model Error: When wearing the Dragonplate Helmet (Legendary quality) as nord female, the hair can be seen through the helmet model. It is uncertain if this applies for the normal version or other races/males as well (PC). This does not happen with male (Nord) characters (360). Hair can be seen through hoods in multiple places. (Tested on male breton. Doesn't occur when using the shortest hairstyles available. PC)
- Alduin/NPC/Broken Quest: After you kill Alduin, Paarthurnax becomes unkillable, making The Blades' quest Paarthurnax unbeatable, but this allows you to train any target based skill forever, as he will not fight back. (Confirmed)
- Companion Inventory Bug: Upon entering combat, companions/followers revert back to using their default weapon/armor with better equipments in their possession, this happens if you dismiss them and rejoin later; may be resolved by trading any item with them. (PC, Xbox360)
- This also happens whenever you take companion with you, edit their inventory (giving them new/better gear), then tell them to part ways. The next time you see them they have their original gear on. As stated above, easily fixed by editing their inventory again, though it is somewhat annoying at times being a time-consuming process.
- Shroud Hearth/Sapphire Claw: The door that is opened using the Sapphire Claw will not open, even with the correct combination. Instead, one or two of the dart traps go off. (Xbox360)
- Shroud Hearth/Wyndelius's Journal: The journal required to get the Sapphire Claw does not appear on the desk inside Wyndelius's room.
- Quest; To Kill an Empire: (Dark Brotherhood) After you give the Note to Commander Mara and continue to the kitchens, when you talk to Griena she will loop the dialogue and not finish it resulting in never progressing in the quest. Since the door is locked to get back to solitude you are stuck in the kitchens with a quest line that doesn't work. (Xbox360, PS3)
- This is Cause you are a Vampire. you need to do the Quest to Remove Vampirism in order to Griena continue her speech.
- Graphical/Stuck Arrows: A constant reoccurring problem seems to be when you're shot by an arrow or any form of magic that causes something to "stick" to you, the item won't go away. (the arrow stays in you forever) but can sometimes be solved by getting shot by an arrow, causing them both to disappear. Solution confirmed 360. Also it seems to fix itself as you continue playing. Ice spears that are stuck in you can be fixed by using Beast Form. (PC)
- An arrow stuck in your body has actually been added to your inventory. In order to get it unstuck, drop all of your arrows into a container. The arrow will no longer be stuck in your body, even after you retrieve your arrows from the container. (not always the case on the PS3, quite a few times i have had an arrow stuck in me and even after dropping all arrows of every type from my inventory it still sticks there, tends to go away after i reload a save then sleep.)
- House Upgrades: After purchasing the bedroom upgrade for your the House of Whiterun, they [?] no longer sort alphabetically, instead sorting by either weight or random. more specific please.
- Remapping Keys: Remapping left mouse "M1" to something else is impossible because as soon as you assign it, it triggers a left click therefore requiring you again to enter a new key. (PC)
- By default, left mouse button is assigned to right hand and right mouse button is assigned to left hand. how is this a bug? (PC)
- Remapping Keys: Each time the game restarts, all changes you have made in control keys goes back to default. (PC)
- Fix: Run as administrator.
- Lock Bug: Volunruud cannot open locked door even when the two weapon keys are obtained
- Character Creation: when you first choose your race and appearance, left clicking your 3d image to rotate it will disable the left click for any other actions such as changing parameters.
Can be fixed by changing the editing tab section. (PC) - 'Physics: Dropping items will sometimes damage yourself if the object physics touches you. This is not a bug, merely unlucky positioning of character. Happens rarely.
- Equipping Spells: Impossible to unequip or change spells on the right hand. To fix it, one must equip a weapon to this hand. (PC)
- Physics: Getting frozen on a cliff may result in physics glitches. Video example : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5-kO_iIzhU (PC)
- Remapping keys : Remapping "Weapon Ready/Holster Key" ('R' by default) causes the 'Drop Equipment' key in the inventory menu to also be remapped, even though it says to press 'R' to Drop. Interestingly, the 'Store Equipment' key when inspecting chests (also 'R' by default) isn't erroneously remapped. Similarly, remapping 'F', the switch viewpoint key, breaks the Favorite/Unfavorite function which is also using the 'F' key.(PC)
- Quest, Attack on Whiterun : When attacking Whiterun during the "Attack on Whiterun" quest, with the Stormcloak. Galmar starts attacking you after you get inside the gates of Whiterun.(PS3)
- Chest, storage, items : Not sure if this is a bug or just left out, but chests and storage containers do not sort items at all. I.E. a Chest will not have the 'weapon' 'apparel' 'potions' sub category. Also the chest will not sort these items by alphabetical order either. It seems that it sorts them by the order you place them in the chest, Makes it very time consuming to hunt down a particular item in the chest.
- Minimizing : After the game has been minimized, it is impossible to go back.(PC)
- It is possible, after using Alt+Tab the screen will be black, use Alt+Tab into the game again and it will enter, just remember you have to do it twice and it will work. (This fix doesn't work for everybody.)
- Tested to work with just one user: With Skyrim as the focused program, bringing up the start menu through the Windows key and then pressing the left mouse button (the pointer seems to be stuck in the middle of the Skyrim window) would work.
- Alt tab did not work for this user; found a fix using Task Manager (By means of ctrl-alt-del or ctrl-shift-esc) -- In the applications tab, instead of highlighting "Skyrim" and clicking "End task", simply double click "Skyrim" to properly move focus to it.
- Opening up In-game Steam interface (by default pressing shift+tab) always allows the player to reach desktop with alt+tab function. Focusing Skyrim in taskbar by cliking (or switching with alt+tab to) it, and then bringing up task manager (likely by pressing ctrl+shift+esc), and then simply pressing esc (likely again) to close the manager, always allows player to get back in game. Skyrim will be focused and after a few seconds game will be ready to play as it should be (in-game steam interface might still be open). Mind that this solution sometimes ends up with windows cursor moving in the game. if this happens, simply open up in-game steam interface and close it again. Windows cursor will be gone. (also worths to be mentioned : i personally experienced that some 4gb ram patches which can easily be found on modding websites, speeds up all this processes)
- This user found that the game wouldn't maximize by using ALT + Tab once but that after selecting the game with ALT + Tab, the use would have to select the game again with ALT + Tab cycling thru all the other programs. So selecting it twice in a row with ALT + Tab worked.
- Would be helpful to list which OS has the problem, using Win7 and alt+tab works fine for me.
- It is possible, after using Alt+Tab the screen will be black, use Alt+Tab into the game again and it will enter, just remember you have to do it twice and it will work. (This fix doesn't work for everybody.)
- NPC dialogues : Multiple NPC can talk to you at the same time making it impossible to understand any conversation. Sometimes this will interrupt important quest conversations as well.
- NPC : Some NPC will rotate while sleeping Video example : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZyj38AImNI
- Quest, quest name? : When equipping the Ring of Hircine (after completing the quest) the "reading the elder scroll" animation sometimes displays. (PS3)
- Enemy Spawning : Mammoths and goats floating on a tree, then falling down to the ground without dying.
- During the quest (The Fallen) after traping the dragon no more options are available. Killing the dragon only causes him to spasm and repeat the cycle over and over.
- Quest, name of the quest = Alduin's Bane : When using the Elder Scroll to go back in time and watch the fight with Alduin, the NPC's say "Alduin is coming, get ready!" or something along those lines, and only 2 stand ready, the younger male is further away looking at the distance and not coming to fight, Alduin will never come, re-loading the save and using the Elder Scroll again fixes it. (PC)
- Quest, name of the quest = Alduin's Bane : Another bug in quest Alduin's Bane: After returning from your trip back in time, Alduin is waiting for you and ready to fight. However Alduin seems to be stuck in the air, looking like he is sitting atop an invisible mountain. The sky turns into the fire storm, but Alduin himself is docile. Casting Dragonrend captures Alduin (through a visible blue haze that surrounds him) and you can do damage when casting spells at him until he runs out of health, at which point he simply stays where he is and keeps looking at you. Paarthanax keeps circling Alduin and keeps fighting. The sky returns to normal and about once every two minutes returns to the firestorm in the sky.
- Equipping Spells : You can't dual cast (at least from the favorites menu) by clicking on a spell, it will be either Left or nothing, the other mouse button won't do anything, to dualcast you have to number a spell, and then double clicking the number, but then it will be LR or just R, you can't un-equip a spell except by overwriting it with a weapon. (PC)
- This may not be a bug - I can in fact assign spells to the 2nd hand from the favorites menu but only if that hand doesn't already have a weapon (at least for me ) (PC)
- This is a well known glitch, to fix it one must over-ride the spell with a weapon to un-equip it.
- NPC, follower : After a follower is ordered to take everything from a container, the items cannot be sold even if they are not stolen goods.(PC)
- Quest, name of the quest = ? : Cursed ring of hircine go off after random transformation (PS3)
- (PC/Xbox) Completing the quest Diplomatic Immunity does not always give you the quest A Cornered Rat, and there is no way to go back and pick it up. Causes the main questline to be unplayable, as this is a required quest. If you are on a PC, you can fix this using the console:
- Go to Riften and wait right outside Esbern's hideout in the Ratway
open the console
Type "setstage MQ202 160"
He will open his door, speak to him to advance the quest, eventually leading to escorting him to Riverwood. When he gets there, let him speak to Delphene. She will lead you back to her hideout and the quest scripts should activate on their own.
- Go to Riften and wait right outside Esbern's hideout in the Ratway
- Quest, "The Man Who Cried Wolf ": After accepting the quest "The Man Who Cried Wolf" from Falk Firebeard you are able to pickpocket "Letter from Falk Firebeard" from him, which clearly is not supposed to be there until after the quest is done as it describes some of the deeds you did while on the quest.(Xbox)
- Character : Upon starting a new game and choosing to play as a Nord, the racial ability "resist frost +50%" does not activate and will not show up under 'active effects'. Battlecry will still appear as normal. (PS3)
- Werewolf: Sometimes when transforming into a werewolf, your currently equipped weapon will stay equipped onto you. Such as a Steel Sword will stay in your right hand and can be sheathed. The normal werewolf attack can still be used in the other hand with nothing in it. This also works with arrows, but not bows. Spells don't equip back onto you in werewolf form.
- This also applies to torches which will center out on the bottom of your character (halfway into the ground). The torch will continue to work as indented, providing proper lightning.
- Werewolf : Becoming a werewolf does not give you immunity to disease as stated. (PC)
- Werewolf : If you become a werewolf and then get the cure changing you back to normal, you still can't become a vampire because the werewolf perk giving you immunity too all disease is bugged. This isn't a bug, it's suppose to be like that. (Eglyntine 12:39, December 11, 2011 (UTC) - I was able to change into a vampire right after I cured myself from Lycanthropy. I went straight from being cured to the vampire cave, was bit and 3 game days later I am a full on vampire. This worked for PC and Xbox)
- Werewolf : Running animations may not let you use your leap power attack if the terrain changes (mostly bugged in dungeons) even trough you are not directly changing direction.
- Physics : When a dragon is killed, its remaining skeleton is not a solid object. One can walk trough it.
- EDIT: Not a bug, You can walk through a dragon's corpse so nothing can be blocked off.
- Shouts, swimming : If you try to shout while swimming it will not work but as soon as you touch earth, your character will shout.
- Horse, swimming : If you dismount your horse while in water and then try to mount it back, the horse will be walking on water.
- NPC, selling : Sometimes, If you try to sell items to those random NPC hunters wandering in the wild, you will not receive the money even if they have plenty.
- NPC, realism : Even if NPCs have witnessed a dragon being killed by you, they will still say random quotes such as "do dragons really exist?" .
- NPC,Jarl of Markarth quests: The Jarl of Markarth offers no work or quests making it impossible to become thane or purchase a house in Markarth. (Soluition: must be lvl 20, and have completed any bounty quests for the steward, to get the quests/topics involving house purchase. (PC)
- NPC, Jarl of Dawnstar quests: The Jarl of Dawnstar offers quests and rewards you with gold when they are complete but no quest completed text comes up and the quests are still in the journal as not being complete meaning you cannot become Thane of Dawnstar. (PC, Xbox 360)
- NPC, animation : Sometimes NPCs reanimate, walking backwards, after death, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm9VE04M7j8
- Quests : If you don't follow the expected path to get to a quest objective, the quest marker might not be refreshed until you have gotten to the objective. For example, lets say that you are on top of a tower and the only way out is by entering a door or by jumping down (while being ethereal), the programmers of skyrim did not predicted that one might jump down the tower so the quest marker will still be pointing to the door even if you are already down the tower. ( all platform, original release )
- Quest items : Finn's Lute, Pantea's Flute and Rjorn's Drum are bugged as they arnt removed from the inventory once their quests are complete. If Finn's Lute is found before the quest is activated then you can still get the reward for recovering it but it isn't removed from the inventory and the quest is still in the Miscellaneous quest log thus being unfinishable. all the quests are found at the bard collage.(PS3, Xbox 360 & PC)
- Animation: (PS3) Sometimes when you equip arrows and then you sell them to any vendor the arrows will still be equipped on your characters back. (Solution) This can be fixed by buying or looting the same sort of arrows back and then un-equip them before you sell them.
- Realism: Campfires do not hurt you.
- Physics(?): Sometimes, when picking up items off a table or shelf, all other items on that surface will immediately vanish.*If you are outside, raindrops fall through objects, like roofs etc.
- (PC) If the player remaps the Sheathe function to a mouse shoulder button, menu functions that require the R key (dropping, crafting, etc.) become impossible.
- (PC) If Use/Activate action is mapped to mouse key (M4 e.g.) then it's not possible to pickup books, notes and letters. If action is mapped to some other keyboard key picking up works fine.
- (PC) Unable to unequip swap magic on right hand without dual wielding and removing weapons beforehand
- (PC) Opening the Steam overlay in menus has a tendency to break the Tab key and act as if Shift is permanently pressed for the current play session, making certain menus impossible to close. (Fixable by pressing the corresponding stuck key once when back in-game.)
- Morokei mask deletes face textures (but only with specific robes equipped. Works with Necromancer robes, not with Arch Mage robes).*
- (X-Box)The glitch with the Mask seen to the right is only with the archmage robes otherwise the mask is visible. (Has been fixed)
- In Bleakfalls Burrow, sometimes the stones (bird, snake, whale) for the first lever puzzle wont turn, loading fixed once, but died, forgot to save, now even loading wont fix it. Exiting the cave and re-entering sometimes works to fix this.
- One time, I must have spawned strangely because my companion Lydia appeared dead on the floor but I could speak to her and she would appear to be dragging along the floor when she followed me. But the glitch fixed itself when I fast-travelled.
- (Xbox360) If Lydia dies before you marry someone, her body will arrive at the door during the wedding. The only solution I found was to drag Lydia's body downstairs and re-propose marriage.
- (PC) Re-mapping directional keys off of WASD does not change directional keys in map view. However, directional keys in menus seem to work fine.
- Swamp river water was missing halfway through the stream, but i still heard the water sound and i could swim in it.
- After shooting my bow and arrows, When I went to go pick up my arrows on the ground it said I picked up an arrow but the arrow was still on the ground and couldn't be picked up again.
- (PS3) My companion Lydia randomly disappeared while I was walking on a trail with no enemies nearby I fast traveled she wasn't there and never saw her again. (PS3/Xbox360) (Solution - this happened to me on Xbox360 and after fast-travelling back to Dragonsreach I found her sitting at the table in the main hall as if I'd dismissed her earlier; upon talking to her she just behaved as normal and followed me again without being instructed to!)*If Lydia dies her body will appear at your wedding ceremony and you'll fail attending to your wedding.
- Animals don't drown! (PS3/Xbox360) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwIseXnZUyA Deer under water paddling feet (Start video at 4:18)
- (PC) Early College of Winterhold quest in Saarthal crashes the game. Putting your game quality to Low should allow you to break the wall without crashing.
- Sometimes, when using the Unrelenting Force shout, enemies can become stuck in the walls, where you will be unable to loot their bodies.
- (PS3) When you equip armor on the mannequin in your house in Markarth it will turn invisible.
- Just above the sightless pit is a mound for 4 skeletons where a book of oblivion can be found. after killing the skeletons the book can continuously be looted and sold for 50 septims each..
- Occasionally some NPC's get wood stuck to their hands, Re-entering instances normally fixes this.
- When mining certain ores (Orichalcum confirmed) the player will stop the animation and the vein will not be interactable. Only solution found is to load a previous save. (Just clickin avtivate once then waitin might fix this. Xbox 360) (Just equip the pickaxe and hit the vein. You get ore for every 3 hits. Vein depletes after 9 hits, like the animation, Confirmed on PC)
- (PC) Player character's head mesh will become invisible (Note: found the cause, it's caused by wearing a helmet\facemask and wearing a robe with a cowl (particularly, the Arch Mage's Robes), neither loading a save (except before the glitch occurred), nor using something like sexchange will fix it, the only solution I've found is turning into a Werewolf, then waiting 1 hour and letting myself transform back, giving me a visible head mesh again. You can also change your race to your current race, which fixes it as well (Note 2: You can remove the face mask after using SetPlayerRace and your head will become visible again, but putting the mask back on will once again cause the glitch to re-occur).
- (PC) In some areas (Volkskygge for example, in the Passages) there will be seemingly impassable terrain, but it's actually invisible spider webs, so you can just use a normal attack and the animation of a ripping web will go off, revealing the remaining webs.
- You can receive free training from your companions. After paying for their training, look into their inventory and you can take your money back. Repeat as many times as you wish. Video explaining - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVb1mv10vik*If you created your character with 1 or 2 white eyes and then become a vampire the eye(s) will glitch and become white with red fading in and out constantly.*The outside structure of Valthume doesn't appear fully. All that shows up is some hanging moss and a statue head.
- Have found instances were bones in duengons would float in mid air like when in Bleak Falls Barrow when the Injured Frostbite spider descendes bones can be seen floating in midair.
- (PC) When editing your enchantment level to a high number 200+. Enchanting an item at max enchantment stats will cause the item to have 0 charges when made but under certain circumstances the effects will still be applied as long as the game is not terminated. (e.g. Absorb health + Fire damage on a sword) Once the game is restarted the items will lose their charges and will not be rechargeable.
- After finding the shout at Eldersblood Peak, game crashes after navigating to Magic on the main menu (X360)
- When opening the game and after seeing the dragon emblem, the window suddenly dissapers.
- When talking to Vilkas of the Champions for the first time he will continue to talk to you endlessly forever. If you exit the dialogue he will just re-open it again. Very annoying. Very hard to escape from this endless loop.
- When having placed a Dagger in a Dagger Rack display case in your bedroom in Windhelm, You can't pick the dagger back up, but you can keep placing more and more daggers, they will also show up visually inside the display case.
- (PC) NPC's will hire thugs to kill you if you steal from them but will act cordial toward you if you talk to them later (even within the same day). [Confirmed with Silana Petreia]
- When Creating Daedric boots at the Atronach Fordge it appears on the slab, but when picking it up the iteam vanishes and does not show in your inventory. tested 4 times
- Player's eyes glow blue, like the eyes of a draugr. Typing 'sexchange' in the console fixes the problem for a few seconds, then the eyes glow again. Not entirely sure what initiated the bug. For most people the Aura Whisper Shout initiates the bug, but some did not even have that shout when it appeared. Wearing a Dragon Priest mask is another source, removing the mask does not remove the effect.
- Player's eyes glitch black: When using any using any form of invisibility (potions / spells) his eyes turn black. It happens every time the player goes invisible. That can only be fixed when using the console command sexchange.
- Player's eyes turn black, all NPC's Eyes are missing: This happened only once for me, after starting the game and loading a save all characters eyes were missing and the ones of my own character were black (on every single savegame).
- If you bring Lydia in to the College of Winterhold then ask her to leave you service, she will be attacked by any Mage within her sight, this can lead to Lydia not able to leave the College and be permently traped there (PS3/Xbox 360)
- Houses: Placed items on tables and shelves are scattered about the floor upon re-enterance of the home. (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) (this is a very annoying bug as you can spend hours placing items as you want and then have it be ruined)
- Also happens if loading a save from inside your house. [Xbox360]
- When purchasing the armory in your home in Windhelm, none of the weapon racks or wall displays will allow for the placement of weapons (Xbox 360, PS3)
- Quest Trouble in Skyrim (Hags end) If you picked up the quest trough "looking for work" from Vilkas from the companions the quest will tell you to hand in to Farkas after its completed. Farkas got the marker but wont accept hand in he says "aint you doin a job for Vilkas?" while Vilkas got no option to hand in quest.
- (PS3) Quest Elder Knowledge If you kill Umana and Sulla before you hear them speak you will be unable to activate the dwarven mechanism therefore you will not be able to get into Blackreach to complete the quest.
- (PC) Esbern can't speak in all scene. The only thing you can see is the subtitle of what he said, but it dissapear so fast and make you unable to read it completely.
- Fix (for PC): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4fZrCx-vLg (I was able to do this successfully, as were several friends)
- (PC/360) Several classes- Vampire - Thieves Guild Hood. If you become a vampire, the Thieves Guild Hood will cause a graphics glitch. A huge "bald spot" is shown on top of your characters head instead of the hood. This seems to no affect other pieces of headwear such as helmets. This is so far confirmed with a female Nord character. Also confirmed with many other characters, including dark elf males and Redwood males.
- (PC) Can't begin 'A Night to Remember' because Sam Guevenne's drinking event doesn't go to the black out portion of the quest.
- (PC) The Forsworn Conspiracy: After completing the quest you are still attacked by guards when you return to Markarth and they still attempt to imprison you.
- (Xbox/PC/PS3 confirmed) After reaching a certain level (most likely 35+), the traders in Whiterun sell a strange chest like item named "Do Not Delete." The game's physics do not apply to the chest, thus allowing you to skip though large portions of dungons if you place the box, jump on top, and then jump to a ledge, and pick the box back up. The chest costs anywhere between 150 gold and 400 gold (depending on speech skill, bartering skill, and where it is purchased from). The box can be purchased from any vendor (inside a store, not open air stalls) that has a MISC item menu.
- -Also confirmed by myself, TheGamerTrainer and I'm level 43 and am currently in Warmaidens in Whiterun. I also have a video I made showing that it can be bought as well. You can watch the video here that I've made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbt2xsLncGU -Also Xeddief from http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615803-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/61266473 confirms that you can find two more of these boxes in Radiant Raiment in Solitude.
- (PC) The Ancient Shrouded Mask item will not appear on your character if you are playing an Argonian or Khajiit. Your horns/frills will disappear and you will appear to be wearing nothing on your head, allowing you to equip another headwear over it.
- Quest purity of revenge ; If you finish bloods honor and return to jarvaskr with the misc quest find the helmet of windhelm the quest won't activate.
- (PC) If you obtain any of the three items required by the Misc quest Wylandriah(the court wizard of Riften) gives before meeting her for the first time, then she will not give you the quest and the items will remain in your inventory permanently.
- (PS3) On the "Find King Olaf's Verse" quest, if you enter the Dead Men's Respite with a follower, the programmed series of events does not occur. Taking the Ruby Dragonclaw is supposed to release 4 Dragurs and unlock the gate, but does not do so. This leaves you unable to complete the quest.
- (Xbox 360) In Dead Men's Respite, the combination door requiring the Ruby Dragonclaw may not let you spin the rings. this leaves you unable to open the door and proceed any further in the dungeon.
- (PC) Rebinding E as another use other than activite will cause you not to be able to pick up books
- (PC, all?) If you sold the entire Thieves guild outfit without exchanging one of the pieces for an upgraded Thieves guild set piece, after the Thieves Guild Quet: Scoundrel's Folly Tonilia will forever after only present the speech dialogue option to upgrade a set piece. This means you cannot engage in conversation with Tonilia about picking up your Guild Leader Armor (a requirement to complete the Thieves Guild questline). She cannot be used as a fence after this point either. The only current fix is to revert to a previous save, so be warned. Hopefully Betheseda will note this and provide a dialogue option. This will also make it so that you cannot complete Tonilia's moon sugar quest as well.
- (PC, all?) Thieves guild larceny quest bug. Unsure of root cause of this bug, but unable to turn in left eye of falmer to Delvin after starting "A Darkness Returns: Pilgrim's Path" quest. Even after completing the Pilgrim's Path, Delvin does not provide a dialogue option to turn in the eye of falmer. Only fix is to reload a save to just after picking up the eye of falmer, and then to be sure to immediately turn in the eye before continuing the Theives Guild quest line.
- House: When saving in a fully upgraded player-owned home, loading the save causes all the upgrades to disappear. Simply re-loading the save fixes this. (Xbox 360)
- Perk/Effect: Werewolf Cure Bug: After curing yourself of Lycanthropy by throwing a Glenmoril Coven Witch Head into the alter in Ysgramor and defeating your wolf spirit, you still will not be able to receive the "Rested", "Well Rested", or "Lover's Comfort" bonuses, and your "Days as a Werewolf" stat will continue to increase. NPCs in towns will also still comment on your appearance as if you were a werewolf. (PS3)(Xbox 360)(Confirmed)
- Quest: Missing In Action. In speaking with Avulstein, there is a peaceful option in which the player is sent to Northwatch and instructed to find a way to free Thorald, but will be failed if the player attempts to sneak in or attacks the guards. The intent is to find a 'diplomatic' solution to the quest, but no quest markers are given as to where to go, and the quest marker simply remains upon Northwatch Keep. The likely place the quest is supposed to send you is the Thalmaor Headquarters in Solitude, but, perhaps related as a bug, the Thalmor Headquarters is always empty and contains no NPCs.
- NPC: Possibly related to the above bug of Missing In Action, or possibly a separate bug - the Thalmor Headquarters in Solitude is empty and contains no mobs, though it is obviously meant to.
- Quest: Picking up a quest item before you start the quest that it is meant for stops you from finishing misc quests
- (XBOX 360), Cleared Northwatch before getting Quest missing in action, as soon as I open any door to Northwatch XBOX will freeze tried it several times. even when i left northwatch and done other quest xbox will freeze as soon as you open door.
- Quest: Boethiah's Calling : The text did not end while you talk to Boethiah's conduit.
- Quest: Klimmek's Supplies will reappear in the chest near High Hrothgar after finishing the quest, given enough time, probably after respawn period. (PC)
- Quest: No One Escapes... (Xbox): Upon entering being thrown in the mine, all quest items are removed from your inventory. They are not returned, however, when Modonoch returns all the items the guards took from you. Equiped quest amulets, such as Talos's amulets, will continue to provide their bonus until another amulet is equipped.
- Graphical/Easter Egg?: In the Mythic Dawn Museum in Dawnstar, if you burn or freeze the scorched page from the Mysterium Xarxes (after opening the display), it'll change into the bucket. (PC, confirmed PS3)
- (NPC) Horse AI (Xbox): The horse goes out of its way to run and attack enemies which are much stronger than it. For instance, dismounting to shoot the giants near Whiterun from a long distance causes the horse to close the distance, attack the giants, and be slaughtered. This is not horse-like behavior.
- (NPC) Lydia (Xbox): Upon your Wedding Ceremony taking place, many citizens from past gatherings will join you - sometimes including dead followers! Lydia will occasionaly teleport to the Ceremony even if she's already died with you in battle. This causes the patrons to think you're the one whom murdered Lydia and kick you out of the Temple, as well as cancel the Ceremony. Yikes!
- Skeletal Dragon (Xbox 360, unknown on other platforms): When fighting a dragon sometimes you may absorb its soul and the dragons becomes a skeleton but still flies and atack you and becomes unkillable.
- Quest: "Reunification of skyrim/regain winter hold". Can not get Legate Rikke to give option to "report for duty". tired spamming dialoge, nothing. reload saves, nothing. even shut off console and reload game, nothing.(Xbox360)
- This MIGHT be fixed by hitting Legate ONCE with any weapon and then quickly talking to her. The option to report SHOULD come. This happened with the "Liberation of Skyrim/Taking Solitude" when Galmar, Ulfric's second in command, would not allow the player to report in. Also, if you were given any type of special clothing, try wearing that as well before you hit Legate.
- Another fix is to attack and kill Legate. After she dies she will come back to life after a second or two. as soon as she gets up she will resume attacking you. As soon as she hits you run and sprint untill you get away from her. Then wait 24hrs and fast travel back to the camp she will no longer be hostile. You can then talk to her and the "Reporting for duty" text will now be active.(Xbox360)
- If you haven't finished the main quest, you can do the "Season Ending" quest. In the negotiations, Markarth will become Stormcloak, and Winterhold will become Imperial. This completes the "Regaining Winterhold" quest, and adds "Regain The Reach". Legatte now has the "Reporting for duty" text active. However, when taking Markarth and Windhelm, Stormcloak soldiers were all invisible. Hard to kill, but finishes the questline.(Xbox360)
- Quest: "Forbidden Legend" - Reforge the Gauldur Amulet. (Xbox 360) In Reachwater Rock you are presented with the Emerald Dragon Claw and its corresponding puzzle door. The puzzle's code, Bear/Whale/Snake, does not open the door nor does any other combination. Note: The snake on the claw is reverse from the snake on the door.
- NPC: When killing a Ghost by the decapitation of the head, the severed head will lie on the ground as if it were a living being's. (XBOX 360)
- Perk: Rapidly tapping sneak with the "Shadow Warrior" perk will most of the time cause enemies to get confused and walk away.(hilarity will follow)
- Quest: "Message to Whiterun" - After capturing the dragon it is not possible to talk with the Jarl of Whiterun about the axe, there is no dialoge option.
- Companion: This occurs after "A Daedra's Best Friend," where the dog becomes your companion and follows you around. I was caught pickpocketing in Riften, and confronted by guards. I refused arrest, got attacked, and ran to the nearest store where I was confronted again. The second time, I paid my gold bounty, and returned outside to find my dog relentlessly attacking guards, and guards attacking him. As the dog has infinite health, it will never die, and at one point I had 21 Riften guards attacking him. I cast Firey Explosion and killed every guard, collecting a substantial bounty in the process. Even with the required amount to pay it off, and the option to pay it off available, the next screen says "Too rich for my blood." causing the conversation to revert back to the last window with the new option "Do you have time for this" - The guard will agree it is a waste of time, back off the conversation window, and then attack me with the rest of the guards. This will not stop.
- Quest: The Break of Dawn - When activated to obtain the beacon, quest pointer points me to random spot in torture room of the Dawnstar Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.
- Quest/Character: Viola Giordano can be killed, and will occassionally disapear/die randomly without interaction from the player (maybe a dragon or something) if this happens then "Blood on the ice" is incompletable.
- Character: Viola Giordano is impossible to find; was not killed during any quests. "Blood on the Ice" is uncompletable.
- Companion/"Companions" - Aftter completing The Companions quest "Glory of the Dead" Aela The Huntress and Vilkas do not return to Whiterun. They did not die during the quest and are not in Ysgramor's Tomb where they left me as per the story. Farkas however did return but remains standing in the same exact spot in Jorvaskr at all times. It is possible I prevented Farkas from glitching like his comrades by asking him to follow me then immediatly "asking him to part ways" before exiting the tomb. That may also be the reason the glitch happened in the first place.
- Active Effects Glitch - Somewhere during the game, all active effects apart from the racial attributes and equipped apparel will disappear. Applies to Aedra blessings, diseases and some special ones like Ancient Knowledge.
- Alduin returns (PC): The reason is unknown, Alduin appeared at the Throat of the World, although the main quest is long finished. He was very glitchy; he flew around, his speed changing quite often, until he just froze in mid-air altogether. His health could be reduced to zero, but this would not kill him.
- (Xbox 360)I believe(yet to be confirmed) that if you interrupt a dragon resurrection the dragon is only half developed and you cannot do any damage to it as this happened to me see attached photo. -I had the same thing happen to me. I ran away from the area, and when I returned I could kill the dragon, although it didn't move. However, I died almost immediately after from another dragon, and when I returned the swirling lights were going around on the grave but no dragon ever came out.
- Sneaking on mudcrabs - If you sneak up on a mudcrab while it's crouched (looks like a rock, not moving), it will fall through the world (disappears completely, body and al).(Confirmed)
- NPC (PC): Bug with Shahvee (she is in Windhelm), you only can ask: why she is happy. In this list she is: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Marriage#NPC_you_can_Marry And I also see, I don't get a quest from her (Amulet of Zenithar).
- Erasing bounty letters (PC, 1.1, others?): If you use one of the "automatic" bookshelves in your home to store bounty notices (they are "books"), it will erase their unique information, and all they will say is "By order of". If you do this to multiple bounties, they will be stackable when you take them back, since they are no longer unique.
- Tiny Falmer glitch (PS3 only, xbox360 and PC are unconfirmed at this time): while exploring the ruins in Understone Keep, I was attacked by 3 Falmer. I killed 2 of them but then I couldn't seem to find the 3rd one even though I was still being attacked. Then I looked on the ground, and there was a tiny Falmer attacking me! Not sure if this is an easter egg or a glitch but he was shorter than my sword. He looked exactly like a regular Falmer, did the exact same amount of damage and had the same amount of HP except he was TINY! This was on PS3, so sadly, I was not able to record the glitch (or easter egg?) or take pictures.
- Invisible Maven (PS3): If you sneak into the Black-Briar at night, Maven Black-Briar would be invisible. Sometimes, she'll reappear when she attacks.
- Quest: "Repairing the Phial" - If you already have a Briar Heart in your inventory, obtaining another Briar Heart does not complete the respective quest objective. After accepting the quest you are also unable to remove the Briar Hearts from your inventory. This effectively makes it impossible to complete the quest. Possible way out -- open a container in your house and place the briar hearts inside, then take them out again. This activates the on-screen message saying that you have the hearts, and lets you continue.
- Frozen NPCs (Xbox) Sometimes NPCs will get stuck or freeze as their path updates. This can be annoying during cutscenes where you can't move until a scripted event occurs. One fix is to 'FUS' the NPC, then yield, or simply wait for an hour.
- Shout/Effects: Ice Form will make players/npc's/monsters fly if they gain enough rotary speed by e.g. rolling down a slope.
- (PS3) Upon Downloading Version 1.03 Any arrow I fired from a bow would not work if fired while held down all the way. If I held it down all the way, the arrow would immediately fall and hit the ground as if I didn't hold it down at all. If I fired a halfway held down shot it would fire perfectly, but not at full power or range, making it pointless to use archery. (69 archery level, different bows or arrows didn't resolve anything) When I started a new file, it would work then, but still not on my older saves.
- (PS3) (Version 1.03) When starting a new game when your character gets off of the carriage the game saves a normal save. Due to the PS3 version using a different save feature it rather than saving a new save it saved over my previous save, erasing my 42+ hour character. My most recent save before then was 16 hours previous to this occurance. Unsure if this occurs on Xbox or Pc, but it is an extreme nuisance to lose all your data due to something technical like this.
- (PC) Directly after starting the DVD installation (while game files are being copied), you can switch from non-english to english language files in the Steam settings. However, these are not downloaded until after install completes successfully. The installer allows you to start and begin a new game already, resulting in a very boring intro sequence. After stopping in front of the castle gate, the intro is paused indefinitely as the voice-based scripts cannot run (due to lack of voice files). Fix: Wait until voice files are updated.
- Pickpocketing: (PC) U can pickpocket everything without being noticed from somebody who is standing out from paralysys. It won't be counted to your pickpocket level.
- Falling through the floor: (PC) It is possible for the player to fall through the floor when hit by a Disarm Dragon Shout. The player will hold on to it's weapon. After falling for a while, the player will respawn at the nearest entry or exit point of the dungeon.
- This may be caused by the monster targetting a Follower, but hitting the Dragonborn as collateral damage.
- I get a save that says "11/25/2005 Nord level 1" is it a glitch or a bug?
- Bug:My follower, Lydia, randomly dissappeared from the game when she appearently got switched out for vilkas during the companions quest to retrieve the fragments of Wuuthrad.

RETIRE EARLY! During questline Alduin's Wall, you are sent to Sky Haven with your companion and the two Blades. You can go anywhere else you like before Sky Haven, of course. With Mjoll and the two Blades plus my Fire Atronach and Esben's Frost Atronach, my only worry in combat was to avoid shooting somebody from my own side... and how to carry all the loot!
Infinite money! After finishing the quest for Mehrunes Dagon you will gain acess to his treasury, you can take everything and come back later, the room will have reset and you can take everything again! Infinite daedra hearts and gold and ebony!
{C In the quest Blood on ice you will gaint possession of a strange amulet. You can sell this to Calixto Corrium in The house of Curiosities for 500 septims but when you have done so you can pickpocket him and sell the amulet again! This is a fast way to get some money in the game if you have a decent pickpocket skill. You'e pickpocket skill should be at least 40 and with 2 in "Light Fingers" and 1 in "Cutpurse" and you will be alright. {C}WEARING
QUICKER WAITING (XBOX 360): As soon as you choose the amount of time you want to wait, hit the Xbox guide button and the amount of time it takes to wait is reduced significantly.
WEARING TWO AMULETS (only Vampires): You need to be a Vampire and Gauldurs Amulet. Simply equip Gauldurs Amulet, then equip another, you wear two, now. To equip two amulets of your choise, equip the second amulet you want, the first amulet you equiped will dissapear, just equip it again.
Note: When you load your game wearing two amulets, one will sometimes completely disappear.
You can´t wear two amulets of the same Material.
Not tested on patch 1.2
If it's possible to duplicate gauldurs amulet it may be possible to wear multiple Amulets.
FREE SILENT ROLL PERK: To use the silent roll perk at any sneak level you need: either equip a dagger and a spell or two spells (they can be the same) then get into sneak mode, then you must unsheath your weapons and quickly press sprint as soon as the weapons are visible (you must also be moving forward) and then you should do a stealthy roll. video
WEAR MULTIPLE SETS OF ARMOR: You may wear multiple sets of enchanted armor by doing a few fairly simple steps.
1. Commit a crime inside a city wearing your best armor, then get arrested
2. Escape from prison, gathering your belongings on the way out.
3. Put on a DIFFERENT set of armor (or enchanted clothing, such as the jesters clothes, or mage robes) and get arrested again.
4. Sleep in the bed inside the prison, finishing your time.
When you finish sleeping, your character should be SHOWN wearing the set of armor first arrested in, but if you check your menu, you should be wearing more than one. video
INFINITE SKILLS: (Confirmed by Original Poster Not to Work Any Longer) - If you travel to High Hrothgar you can go inside and you can attack them any way you want and they will not retaliate. This was done on a PS3 but I assume it works on all systems. I also used sneak when doing this. To add on to this DO NOT pickpocket them as they turn hostile and cannot be killed and will repeatedly shout at you doing excessive damage or sending you flying in which case it is hard to even stand for a few seconds and most likely you will die or not be able to advance in the main quest.
Infinite One handed and conjuration exp
For this glitch you must have the quest "the mind of madness" for Sheogorath (Deadric prince of madness), when you walk into the Pelagius Wing equip the bound sword spell to both hands and cast it, keep walking and you will appear before Sheogorath. The bound sword spell will still be in your hands. Sheogorath will give you the staff "Wabbajack" but the bound sword spell will still remain in your leaft hand. Go down the 3rd path to find the giant anger beating up confidence. One Handed: cast the bound sword spell and attack anger. he can not die and will never fight back. it takes a while but it is a verry easy way to gain fast one handed exp. Conjuration: You can continuously sheathe and recast your bound sword, and since Confidence will be labeled as an enemy if you hit him, your conjuration will continue to level.
Easy Way To Level up Smithing Skill To Level 100
I found an easy way to to level up my Smithing skill up to level 100 in about an hour to and hour and a half (time may vary). Go to any blacksmith and buy Iron Ingot's and Leather Strips from both the owner in the store.
Note: You will need a good amount of gold to do this.
Go to the forge and continuously make Iron Daggers , if your level in Smithing is around 20-30, it should take 2-3 daggers to get one level (you will need to make more to level as your skill increases). After you've used all the Iron Ingot's or Leather Strips , and couldn't be bothered waiting 24 hours (game time) for the shop to restock, go to another town and do the same. Then drain that shops stock, and repeat the process either between towns or you can wait 24 hours until the shop restocks. Also easy to just gather leather and leather strips to make leather/hide helmets or bracers.
Note: You will be able to sell the daggers for about 6 gold each to the shopkeeper.
Also, use the above method to increase you Enchanting skill as well. After you've made your Iron Daggers, take them to an Enchanting table and enchant them with Fire/Frost/Shock damage of your choice and your enchanting skill will increase rather quickly. You will need a good amount of soul gems but the amount your skill raises is not determined by the size of the soul gem used. Use your Petty soul gems for your Iron Daggers and save your Grand Souls for better enchantments. Then you can sell your Daggers for about 100 gold or so depending on the soul gem used.
Note: If you have loot from a dungeon crawl or some such, sell to shopkeeper, preferably Whiterun (as there are three blacksmiths; more material). Assuming the loot is worth enough, you can buy a lot of their raw materials (ores, ingots, leather). Depending on crafting skill, you should craft all that you can, then sell it back to a shopkeeper, making a profit and if possible, taking more raw materials. As level increases, this becomes easier and easier. Coming back a day later means the shopkeepers purse is refilled, as is their inventory, so this is a practically perpetual money-making, Smithing-leveling device.
Getting Out Of Your High Bounty
If you are a member of the thieves guild and you have a large bounty there is a way of getting out of the bounty without fighting, going to jail, or paying it off. Simply when the guard confronts you you will have 3 choice options, "Im with the guild will this make you go away." or something like that, the 2nd option is, "take me to jail.", and the last is, "I'd rather die than go to prison!". Now use the option to say your in the guild and when the guard asks you if your sure say "nevermind" and the guard will say that you still have to deal with this bounty, if you will notice now the "I'd rather die than go to prison!" is not there and has been replaced with "I don't have time for this, do you?" use this option and he will warn you and your free to go! Please note that this doesn't work all the time you will know if it doesn't work because after ending the conversation the guard will pull out his weapon again and confront you again so keep trying until it works.
Going to Morrowind and Cyrodiil
(Xbox 360 and PC confirmed) There is a house in the Northwest corner of Windhelm, where you can walk through its outside walls. This allows you to exit Windhelm's city space and visit any other location in Skyrim. However, the game thinks you're still in Windhelm, so the graphics are highly downgraded, textures and physics don't make any sense, and invisible walls linger everywhere. You may find that you literally float ten feet above the ground at all times, and that buildings and other man-made structures disappear as you get close. You may also find that you never get attacked as, there are no AI in the game world when you're in the city. You CAN leave the Skyrim game space now though. All you have to do is find a fairly low portion of any mountain and traverse over it. I visited Morrowind, and Cyrodiil. Be wary though, once you exit Skyrim's gamespace, you are sucked into some alternate dimension where you have to swim everywhere– even through mountains. However, you might see some familiar sights in Morrowind and Cyrodiil; I saw Vvardenfell and Red Mountain, and I saw the Skyrim-facing half of the White-Gold Tower. While exploring, you may notice that the sky, water, and character animations are normal quality, but everything else is highly downgraded.
Infinite Magicka
It's possible to get infinite magicka with two skill trees by using the Enchantment skill. To make this possible, you must have a very high enchantment level (a level of 100 is necessary to get infinite magicka with two skill trees and you also need the following perks: Enchanter 5/5 and Extra Effect). {C}As the second, you will need two fortify enhancements for the skills you want infinite magicka with. {C}Next you need four items to enchant (Ring, Amulet, Armor, Helmet) and four Grand/Black soul gems. {C}Now enchant your four items with the fortify enhancements that you want infinite magicka with (I prefer Destruction and Conjuration). Each item will reduce the magicka cost with 25% in both skill trees which means you will end up with 100% magicka reduction in both skills. Now just equip the items and you are done.
- This probably is an intended feature. Because the cap for these enchantments is set at 25% by the developers, they would have been very much aware of this.
  {C}The Launcher Carriage
On the path between Bloated Man's Grotto and Fort Greymoor (I think I didnt check where it leads) there is a carriage with a dead imperial. If you run towards it and jump from a distance that will make you land on the end tip of the carriage it will launch you across the map at a very high velocity.
Free Bound Arrows
After learning bound bow in conjuration skill, equip "Bound Bow" magic on your left and right hand. Then, hold left then right attack or right then left (magicka must be enough for dual-cast). After that, release both attack buttons and you will not have the bound bow but instead the bound arrow will appears to be equiped. You will have 100 arrows (randomly 1, 100+ or 200+ for unknown reasons) for free and since the bound arrow is actually daedric bound arrow, you have free daedric arrows (Not appear in inventory list, disappear after equip another arrows, other unknown glitches). (PC, Unknown on other platforms. Sorry for my bad english
Extra damage on enchanted weapons
This is only for those that will go into the Destruction tree. The damage increaseing perks in the tree are also effecting the enchantment damage on weapons. How ever the damage increasements in the enchantment tree only effect what you enchant while the increasements in the destruction tree effect ALL enchantments including what you buy or loot.
Free Destruction Experience
Note: This was tested on an unpatched Xbox 360 version of the game. It may or may not work on later versions.
While in Riverwood, (may work elsewhere) jump into the forge. As you get damaged, you will slowly gain Destruction experience. You can get infinite levels this way, just watch your health so that you don't die.
Skjor after death
After you finish the Companion quest line and Skjor dies in the fortress, outside of Windhelm to the Northeast along the coast line I found Skjor, well at least half of him, burried into the world itself and he will acknowledge you as a "whelp" still. I'm not sure whether this is a personal glitch but I found him at the crossing of Hollyfrost Farm (going North) and Yngol Barrow (going West).
- Also found Skjor "walking" around with Aela the Huntress and Njada Stonearm. They were being attacked by a mammoth just south of Bonestrewn Crest (Dragon lair). He was walking without a animation and only his upper body was above the ground (the rest was in it), but a long, long, long time after he died. When i talked to him, he didn't responded and kept walking, unlike aela and njada. (Xbox 360)
Easy offensive skill leveling (works best with pickpocketing/archery/sneak)
Note: done this several times on ps3 and requires you to join stormcloaks
During the invasion of whiterun while trying to bring down the bridge (do not bring down the bridge as the exploit will not work) just keep fighting imperials and whitrun guards, eventually after you reach the town gate they will retreat into the city. Afterword Stormcloaks will all still set into positions (they will not react untill hit about 3 to 4 times which the ones that survived these attacks turn hostile but are easy to kill) just keep killing soldiers in any way that you see fit (personally i found it easiest to wait as the soldiers ran by to pickpocket arrows (if caught the one you stole from will turn hostile) while sneaking and just keep shooting them in the back untill they die and more will respawn to take their place then rinse and repeat) this will make for easy leveling of any offensive skills you choose to work on.
Easy Duplication Glitch[]
You need mannequins before attempting. I recommend buying the house in Solitude. Watch the video below for a more complete tutorial. First, place the armor that you want to duplicate on your mannequin. Don't exit out of the equipping screen, then take all of your armor back. Leave the area (loading screen) and come back. The set of armor you did the action with will now be duplicated on the mannequin. If done to an enchanted piece of armor (eg. personally enchanted ebony armor of destruction) it will be the unenchanted form. Even duplicates dragon priest masks. If you try this trick in the Riften house all furniture in the house will be gone, or the manneuins will be gliched out of position and non-interactive.(Video Demonstration) (Confirmed PS3 and 360 even after 11/28/11 patch)
Infinite Magic Glitch
If you have an item which has +Magic upon it you can cast spells until you run out of magic and de-equip it and then equip it again to get the magic from the item. (Video Demonstration)
Easy kill - Mammoths and giants
You can kill them even if you are level 1. Just exploit their bad AI by turning around a rock while shooting them arrows or spells. They will try to get to you but they are too slow. They will eventually die.
Another easy method is to lure giants or other large aggressive mobs towards door ways they can't get through. So long as you stay slightly out of their range they'll continue to swing at the door frame, this is especially useful when trying to level mage and archery. You can also get away with a hit and run tactic with melee attacks whilst they are using a power move, but don't get too cocky or you'll easily get one shotted.
Weapon Duplication Trick
I found this by accident so your results may vary. Purchase all upgrades to the house in Whiterun. Enter the house and equip two weapons ( I have only tried this with staffs) .Go to the weapon rack and activate the right weapon holder . This should remove the staff from your right hand and place it on the rack. Next activate the left weapon holder. This should now place another staff on the left holder. This new staff is a duplication of the first staff that you loaded. Remove both staffs and repeat. (Confirmed not working on PS3)
Alteration Leveling
If you have the Telekinesis spell, simply drop an item onto the ground and cast the spell on it to bring the item to yourself. You get a surprising amount of experience towards Alteration every time you cast this spell, making it extremely easy to level up. This spell can be purchased at the College of Winterhold. (Video Demonstration)
Leveling Up Exploit
When the beginning scene is finished you'll follow an Imperial to a small fort where you can continue to follow the Imperial or a Stormcloak (you can follow either for this to work). Whom ever you chose to follow will give you a small tutorial of the game as you escape the turmoil created in the beginning scene. As you go through the tutorial you will come to an under ground cave where you'll be taught how to perform sneak attacks. At this point you'll be asked to either sneak attack a bear or sneak past it. Instead of doing either of these you can enter sneak mode and go behind which ever NPC is giving you the tutorial and attack him over and over again with no consequence since he will not retaliate or die. You can use this to level up your one-handed, sneak, two-handed, destruction, and block skill by using shield bash. I'ts better to get them into a corner because when you hit him he will be pushed forward. This is very useful if you're willing to put the time into it. (Video Demonstration)
Housing Exploit
In whiterun when you're given the option to buy the house for 5,000 gold there is a way to get the home and keep all that gold. This proves to be especially useful for lower level players who want a house, but don't want to blow all their cash. So, make sure you talk to the Jarl's attendant who sells it to you when he is near a chest, dresser, or something you can store you gold in. Go through the dialogue, say you wish to purchase it, then once you've pressed A to purchse, quickly press B a couple times to leave this screen and then quickly deposit your money into the chest. This also works for all the upgrades available to the house. He will indicate they'll be in your home next time you arrive, and you'll see the key placed in your inventory but you will keep all the gold. (Video Demonstration)
Bucket Exploit
Npc's cant see any crimes while you put a bucket basket or kettle on their head. (Video Demonstration)
Speech/Pickpocket Exploit
Note: This requires a fairly high pickpocket skill to work.
First become a member of the thieves guild then commit a minor crime. When you talk to a guard you'll have the option to use your guild status to make them look the other way, this will give you Speechcraft experience. After speaking with them pickpocket them and take your gold back (difficult at low levels). Find a new guard and repeat, you won't have the option to bribe the same guard twice so it's important to remember which guards you've already talked to.
Trainer Exploit
When training with NPC's you can pickpocket the money you spent training back from them. In doing so you can level pickpocket as well, in most cases gaining enough XP to go to the next level.
Other Method- Some NPC trainers are also available followers. This can be achieved once you do a certain quest for that character or another character. Once you get them to be a follower talk to them. There will be an option where you can train with them even though they're your follower. Once you trained with them using your gold trade with them. You will see that they will have your gold. Take the gold and you'll get training for free.

Follower Exploit (PS3)
"You get Lydia as a companion after you been chosen as the Dragonborn. Jarl Balgruuf will offer her as your assistant and appoint you as Thane. She is an excellent thief." If you have Lydia follow you to the College of Winterhold (Spell Training) in the beginning...take her into the Hall of Elements with you after gaining your first access to the college. The Hall Of Elements is the first place you will train in the College. If you stay in the Hall of Elements after the training is complete...and you still have Lydia by your side, you can tell her to "Part Ways With You"... If you do this within the Hall of Elements, she will begin attacking the other Magi that you were training with..even the instructor. At this point in time, you have already learned "Healing Hands" to gain entry to the college. Lydia does not die after fighting the Magi in The Hall of Elements..she merely gets "stunned"...that being said, you can cast Healing Hands on her over and over as she continues to attack. This will level your Restoration and your Overall Skill levels quite easily with a little time. Enjoy.
Conjuration Exploit
This one is very simple, all you need is a dead body, I tried it with a dead thief in Rifton. After you get your dead body all you need to do continuously use soul trap on it and you'll get conjuration xp. You can do this for as long as you like
Restoration Exploit
You will need two spells for this one, the is the "Healing" spell and the Equilibrium spell. The Equilibrium spell turns your health into Magicka and the Healing spell does the opposite. If you duel wield them then you'll be able to gain Restoration xp, but for some reason not Alteration. You will need to stop Equilibrium every now and then, because it drains more of your health than Healing heals, and since Equilibrium restors magicka and Healing restores health, they almost balance each other out. Not sure if it'll still work if you get the "Regeneration" perk. (Video Demonstration)
Restoration Exploit 2
You will need to dual wield healing and have the Stone of the Atronarch. Go to the Greybeard monastery (High Hrothgar) and head to the top of the mountain. At the top, there will be a spot with wind circulating it, run into it and heal yourself simultaneously for infinite Restoration Xp. (Video Demonstration)
Magic Leveling Exploit
When you first join The Companions in Whiterun you will have to test your fighting skills on one of the members outside of the house. You can continually use spells on this person and he will not retaliate other than saying "What do you think this is? We don't do battle with magic around here, new blood. Now come at me." (Video Demonstration)*Note be warned this could lead to a bug where Vilkas will not continue with the quest and therefore you can't join The Companions (PS3).
Speech Leveling and Gold Exploit
Go to any vendor and browse what they have to sell. For example, click Weapons and look at all the weapons they are selling. With the weapons screen open, move your mouse over the left menu and scroll down until you find your characters name. Right click and hold the mouse button down on your name as you drag the mouse over into the browse weapon screen, and let go. Now you are browsing the shop owners weapons, but you have your characters name highlighted. Click to buy something, and notice gold gets removed from the shop and added to your gold. The item doesn't disappear, so you can sit there and 'buy' the item over and over again until you've completely depleted the shop of all its money. Even after the shop has run out of money, you can continue to sell that item for 0 gold, over and over again and your speech skill will increase forever and your character will also level along with it. (Video Demonstration) --No longer working after update 1.2 (November 30, 2011)
Pickpocketing Leveling Exploit
The same vendor bug described above works when you are pickpocketing. Pickpocket someone. Left click on your name, as if you were to place something on the target. Right click and hold on target's name and drag. You will be able to pickpocket your own items over and over. Be careful because you can still get caught.
Infinite (any) Arrows Exploit
When you enter the inner sanctum of the Thieves Guild, there will be multiple characters practicing their archery throughout most of the day. Simply walk up to the targets and have your pick at all the arrows they have used. Then just wait for them to shoot more arrows if you are in need. If you have any arrow you wish to duplicate simply steal there equipped arrows (wait until their asleep) and then equip that character with one of any arrow of your own by placing it on them. They then shoot that 1 arrow continually. If they stop shooting simply wait one hour and they will begin to fire again *works great with deadric arrows ;)
There also guards training in Solitude that fire infinite arrows at a target (haven't tested the reverse pickpocket exploit for better arrows, but it would probably harder because they don't have a unique name and thus would be difficult to identify when asleep. The guard(s) (one wasn't shooting for me, but had his bow drawn) shoot steel arrows (may be leveled).
Easy Leveling of Any Offensive Skill With Shadowmere
When you acquire Shadowmere through the Dark Brotherhood questline, you'll notice that he's nearly indestructable. You may also notice that no matter what you do to him, he won't turn on you. So as long as you don't bombard him with too much (a constant stream of arrows from a level 30 with 75 in Archery with a fire-enchanted Supple Ancient Nord Bow and Elven arrows does next to nothing), he'll provide an easy on-the-go practice dummy for quickly leveling up.
Easy leveling of the skill "Illusion" with the spell "Muffle"
Purchase the spell "Muffle", equip it and also some Magic regenerating robes. Cast the spell and you should easily get many levels up.
Easy Illusion leveling
Just find any NPC and continuously cast courage on him/her and you will get easy Illusion xp for it.
Fast Magicka Regeneration
Not sure what causes it, but there is a glitch that causes your magicka to regenerate faster than usual, and cause it to regenerate while using a charge spell like Fireball or Chainlightning (Found near Skytemple Ruins). Might have been caused by the Slow Time Shout.
Infinite XP Glitch[]
You need the Whiterun house, an alchemy set and a book shelf to do this. The first thing you need to do is complete the Discerning the Transmundane quest. When you complete it you're rewarded with the book Oghma Infinium, DO NOT READ IT! just put it right in your inventory. When you talk to the Wretched Abyss you have to make a choice. When you're done with that travel to Whiterun, go in your house and go to the book shelf; this part is VERY important so I would advise you to save.
Video Guide for post-2.01/1.2 Patch
- Activate the book shelf
- Go to your books
- READ (Do not place it there yet) Oghma Infinium
- Choose a path
- Store it in your book shelf
- Close your inventory
- Go to the book and read it (Don't choose a path just press do not read)
- Then take it
- Repeat
(Fixed in 1.2 Patch)
NOTE: You can still use the glitch to read the Oghma Infinium twice, but instead of pressing "do not read" in step 7, choose a path. The book will disappear afterwards but you have will gained twice as much xp. (Does not have to be Whiterun house, I tried it in Proudspire Manor in the kitchens bookshelf and it worked fine. Other houses will most likely work aswell|)
ALSO NOTE: Though the glitch was supposedly fixed in the 1.2 Patch, you CAN still do this glitch, you just have to do the same thing, only with a chest.
No Clip\Go Under Any City (PS3)
Before attempting this make sure you have the whirlwind sprint shout and a basket. Approach any place that has a door and place the basket in the corner of the door. Step a little bit away from the basket, aim toward the corner, and, if done correctly, you should go through and end inside of whatever you attempt it on. (Note: Used a wicker basket. Also, do not go under solitude as you will fall and die.)
Infinite Sprint Glitch (Torchrunner)-Equip a torch, and sprint until you run out of stamina, then tap the sprint button and it should continue to sprint without holding down the button or having any stamina.

floating hands glitch. -if you equip the worn shrouded amour and the tublerbane gloves your hands start floating
{C VVVVVVVV UNPASSABLE BUG IN SKYRIM VVVVVVVVVV
The Fallen/Join The StormCloaks mission- It seems that if you have the missions "The Fallen and Join The stormcloaks" in the diary at the same time you are unable to complete the main story line. what happens is when you go convince Ulfric to have a peace tready he sends you to finish the Joining the Stormcloaks. when you are finished with the quest and go talk to Galmar it doesn't give you the option to tell him you have killed the Ice wraith. Galmar just says "How did you convince Ulfric to talk to the empire useless that is".Then if you go back to Ulfric he will keep saying "You have to run an errand with Galmar". These Missions interfere unallowing you to fully convince Ulfric to go to High Hrothgar and disallowing you to join the stormcloaks.
Glitch: PS3 Thieves Guild-Post Patch 1.3?
When you finish the thieves guild quest Loud and Clear the next quest is not given and the questline is broken.

Notes[]
Bethesda announced that certain "entertaining" bugs will be kept in Skyrim instead of being fixed, these bugs may include, but are not limited to: giants sending you flying and the "no crime can be seen" bug in which NPCs can not see a player committing crimes if they have a bucket or kettle on their head. 1
Please make note : Spell absorption atronach perk from alteration tree and atronach sign can prevent summoning and quick reflexes shield perk from triggering. Other form of spell absorption may trigger this problem as well.
